New York is waiting for you and me, baby
Waiting to swallow us down
New York, we're coming to see what you're made of
Are you as great as you sound?

It's not often a team finds itself down by 15 runs....

Does it happen a lot? How often do teams lose by more than 10 runs? Who does it most often? Is 15 runs, indeed, the largest deficit anyone has faced in a game this year?

The largest margins in any game have been 16 runs, which happened to be the final margins in Boston's two 17-1 maulings of the Yankees, and Pittsburgh's (!) 18-2 thrashing of Tampa Bay; 16-0 was the final score of Oakland's win over the Giants, and Atlanta's win over Houston.

Texas, Detroit, and the Marlins all had 15 run leads in victories over the Angels, Blue Jays, and Cubs, respectively, but the final margin was not quite so horrible.

If you're wondering where the famous Yankee-Tampa game is, where Piniella left Travis Harper in to take the beating of a lifetime... the Yanks only won that game by nine runs (20-11). It is the season's highest scoring game, in just about every way imaginable.

It's a light schedule today:

AL
Toronto (Downs 1-2, 4.89) at New York (Wright 3-2, 7.62)
Cleveland (Millwood 6-10, 3.11) at Tampa Bay (Waechter 4-8, 4.98)

NL
Los Angeles (Jackson 0-0, 0.00) at Florida (Willis 16-8, 2.64)
St.Louis (Mulder 14-6, 3.87) at Pittsburgh (Fogg 6-8, 5.07)
Atlanta (Hudson 9-7, 3.45) at Chicago (Zambrano 10-5, 3.07)
New York (Glavine 9-10, 4.26) at Arizona (Webb 10-9, 3.89)
Houston (Oswalt 14-10, 2.67) at San Diego (Williams 6-9, 5.17)
Philadelphia (Lieber 12-10, 4.85) at San Francisco (Lowry 9-11, 4.03)
