This Team's a Ch-Ch-Ch-Challenge

So we've seen the Chacin-Chen matchup; as recently as August 25, there was the legendary Chacin-Chacon matchup. But what are the Chances of working mid-1970s OF Charlie Chant, who is one of the few double-"Ch"s in big league history, into the discussion?

Incidentally, in a nice bit of symmetry, after five AB with the '75 A's, Chant was traded to the Cardinals for another double-initial guy, IF Larry Lintz, who once stole 50 bases in a season (1974 to be exact) for the Expos.

Alas, Choo Choo Coleman, does not qualify for this squad, as we are only considering last/family names ...

... that begin with "Ch." Also alas, our Hall of Fame list is limited by the fact that three of the biggest Ch-names are a commissioner, Happy Chandler, an umpire, Nestor Chylak, and a "pioneer," Henry Chadwick.

Among actual (or is that aCHtual?) Ch-players enshrined in the Hall, there is a 1B, you may have heard of him as the final part of a pretty famous double play combo ... Frank Chance. With a 946-648 record as a manager, Chance is also the leading winner among Ch-Managers (manaCHers?) ...

Another guy, maybe the best CF never to play in the major leagues, Negro League legend Oscar Charleston ... Jack Chesbro was a turn-of-the-last-century RHSP who completed 48 games and won 41 of them, in 1904, but retired two short of 200 career victories ...

Speaking of taking chances (that's a gambling reference, kids), another possibility at 1B is Hal Chase; either of the old-timers probably starts over All-Star Chris Chambliss, even with Chambliss' innately double-Ch name ... among the folks you won't see on this team (they didn't make the chut) are 3B Ed Charles, OF Joe Christopher, 1B Hee Seop Choi and LHRP Randy Choate.

As you might surmise from that list of the final players eliminated from consideration, this team might need some help. We could really use a LHSP, though we went heavily southpaw in the bullpen to balance the currently All-RHSP rotation ...
