The Doubledays have been great in the regular season and then struggled in the playoffs each of the last 2 years. They showed no mercy yesterday, scoring early and often in routing the Oneonta Tigers.

Oneonta 4 Auburn 17

It started innocently enough with a 2 out 2 run homer by Nick Thomas in the first, before the Doubledays blew it open with 6 runs in the third. Chris Gutierrez started the inning with a single and capped it with a 2 run double. Ryan Patterson hit a 2 run tater in the 4th and the rout was on. Auburn didn't let up until they had a 17-1 lead after 8. Cory Patton doubled and walked 4 times, Brian Bormaster hit a late grand slam, and Thomas reached base 4 times. Eric Fowler started and went 7 strong innings , allowing 1 earned run on 4 hits and 1 walk with 4 strikeouts. Jesse Litsch walked one and struck out one in a scoreless eighth, before Edward Rodriguez allowed three meaningless runs in the ninth.

boxscore

3-star selection
3rd star-Brian Bormaster and Ryan Patterson for slugging
2nd star-Cory Patton for reaching base
1st star-Nick Thomas for slugging and reaching base
