Fours were lucky for the farm affiliates yesterday. They went 2-1 with a rainout.
Durham 2 @ Syracuse 5
The Sky Chiefs could muster only 6 hits on the day, but bunched four of them to begin the fourth inning and scored 4 runs in the inning. Ty Taubenheim was the beneficiary of this good four-tune, as he gave up 2 solo homers and nothing else of importance in 5.1 innings, while striking out six to collect his second win. Ryan Houston was outstanding in middle relief and Gronk made the easy 1-inning save a piece of cake, surrendering a hit and goring a Bull. Chad Mottola added a solo homer to his run-scoring single in the fourth.
Connecticut 9 @ New Hampshire 2
Connecticut scored 7 runs in the first inning off Kurt Isenberg, and that was that. Jordan DeJong pitched 4 shutout innings of relief with 3 strikeouts, but the Fisher Cats could manage only 4 hits, two of which were doubles by Miguel Negron and David Smith. Adam Lind took an 0 fer, while Chip Cannon was 0 for 3 with an HBP.
Fort Myers 3 @ Dunedin 7
The D'Jays trailed 2-1 at the 7th inning stretch, but the exercise must have done them good as they rallied for four runs, with four walks at the beginning of the inning the key. Dunedin drew 9 walks on the evening. Ryan Patterson went 2-3, including his 5th homer, and drew a walk, while Dustin Majewski also homered. Lefty Eric Fowler started and went 5.1 innings, allowing a run and 4 baserunners while striking out 4. Brad Mumma threw 2 innings of 2 hit ball with 2 strikeouts to receipt for the win, while Conor Falkenbach came in to retire the last Miracle batter.
