Travis Snider hit his first home run, a grand slam, and had three hits to push his average over .300. Pulaski are 9-1 and cruising. Jesse Litsch made his AA debut yesterday and pitched very well. Those were the highlights of a day where the affiliates could only get one win.
The Chiefs signed Jason Scobie, who had been released by the Mets, and had him start yesterday. Scobie showed why the Mets released him as he gave up nine runs in 3.2 innings. Lee Gronkiewicz pitched 3.1 innings of shutout relief while Adrian Burnside, fresh off the DL, pitched the eighth. The Chiefs did have 15 hits with six hitters having two each, John-Ford Griffin went 2-3 with two walks.
Binghamton scored three runs in the seventh, off Danny Hill and Rodney Ormond, and three more in the eighth off Tracey Thorpe, to ruin a great AA debut by Jesse Litsch. Litsch pitched six innings allowing one run on three hits with five K's. The Fisher Cats had taken a 2-1 lead to the bottom of the seventh. New Hampshire had eight hits spread among all starters except Adam Lind who was 0-5.
Eric Fowler started and allowed four runs in five innings. The bullpen gave up the other four. Juan Peralta went 2-4 and scored both Dunedin runs.
Lansing's bullpen missed Joey McLaughlin yesterday when Jordan Timm gave up three runs in the eighth, and Edward Rodriguez gave up three more in the ninth. Chi-Hung Cheng had a very good start, pitching six innings with eleven K's and giving up four unearned runs.
Lansing scored three in the fourth driven in by doubles from Brian Pettway and Jacob Butler. Lansing added three more in the fifth as Sean Shoffit hit a solo home run and Joey Metropoulos hit a two run shot. Pettway and Butler had two hits each.
Shane Benson started and got the win, pitching five innings, allowing three runs on five hits. Ben Zeskind doubled to lead off the game and later scored on a double play. Auburn added a couple in the third, both of the runs scoring on wild pitches. Auburn put it away with three runs in the fifth, one scoring on an error and the other two on a single by Luke Hopkins. Jonathan Baksh singled and scored in the sixth. Zach Kalter and Baksh had two hits each.
Pulaski 13 Kingsport 7 - 10 innings
Pulaski scored six runs in the tenth inning for the win. The big blow was a two out grand slam by Travis Snider, his first professional home run. Snider was 3-6 with 2 runs scored and four RBI's, Snider's average is now up to .308. Jonathan Jaspe and Victor Santana also had three hits, Baron Frost went 4-5 with 3 RBI's.
Pulaski used six pitchers, Kyle Walter started but walked 5 in 2.1 innings; Nate Melek gave up three runs; Edgar Estanga gave up four; Jeff Gilmore itched a scoreless inning; Dennis Bigley pitched 3.1 scoreless innings; and Nathan Starner finished up with a shutout inning.
