The farm affiliates went 2-3 on the evening.

Richmond 1  @ Syracuse 8

Wayne Lydon had 4 hits, including 2 doubles and a homer, and drove in 4 to lead the Sky Chiefs to a much-needed laugher.  Dustin McGowan started and went 7 innings, allowing a run on 5 hits and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts.  Vinny Chulk and Game Over Gronkiewicz finished up without incident.  Justin Singleton walked, singled, doubled and tripled in 5 plate appearances and scored twice, while John Hattig and Jason Phillips pitched in with a couple of hits each.  This one was over early as Syracuse scored 3 in each of the first and fourth innings.

New Hampshire 3 @ New Britain 6

Ricky Romero is finding the double A test to be a toughie.  He gave up 2 runs in each of the first and second innings and 5 earned runs in 5 innings on 4 hits and 4 walks with 3 strikeouts.  The Fisher Cats scored 3 in the 3rd inning on Ryan Klosterman's 1st double A homer and Adam Lind's 2 run double.  Lind went 2-4 for the Fisher Cats, who struck out 13 times on the evening. Curtis Thigpen and Ryan Patterson wore the collar, while Chip Cannon singled in 4 plate trips. Dustin Majewski reached base 3 times in 4 opportunities as the leadoff hitter.

Dunedin @ Sarasota, ppd. rain

Fort Wayne 6 @ Lansing 4

The Wizards scored 2 runs in the top of the sixth inning off Randy Dicken to break a 3-3 tie and held on for the win.  Brian Pettway did the things he does best- a solo homer, a walk, two strikeouts, and a baserunner kill at the plate.  Sean Shoftit and Josh Bell had two hits each, while Anthony Hatch reached base thrice.  Chi-Hung Cheng started and went 5 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 4 extra base hits, 1 single, 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.  Yesson Berroa threw a perfect ninth with 2 strikeouts and lowered his ERA to 1.31.

Auburn 6 @ Aberdeen 3

Four Doubleday pitchers combined on a 3 hitter, and Matt Liuzza 1st pro homer, a 3 run shot in the 3rd inning,  provided the necessary offence in an easy Auburn win.  Fourth round pick Brandon Magee got his second start and again went 4 innings.  This time he allowed 1 earned run on 2 hits and a walk, while punching out 3.  Ted Serro came on later and threw 3.2 no-hit innings  with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.  He has thrown 10.1 innings so far in Auburn, with just 2 hits and 1 walk and 8 strikeouts.  Liuzza had 3 hits in the game and drove in 4.

Pulaski 0 @ Johnson City 1
1 hit and 13 strikeouts for P-Jay hitters on the evening, so we won't try to put a positive spin on this one.  Alex McRobbie started and went 5 solid innings, allowing a run and 6 baserunners, but took the loss for his troubles.  Chris Emanuele had the only Pulaski hit coming in the 9th inning.  The log for the hit is a bit unusual- Chris Emanuele grounds a single to third baseman Casey Mulligan (now there's a name) and reaches second on Mulligan's error; pitcher Luke Gregorson leaves the game due to an injured head. I hope it wasn't the loss of the no-hitter that led to it.

3 stars!

Honourable Mentions- Dustin McGowan, Justin Singleton
3rd star- Ted Serro
2nd star- Matt Liuzza
1st star- Wayne Lydon
