There's Something About Robinzon

Syracuse and Pulaski had the day off. The rest...well, let's just say it was a night for mulligans. The farm went 0-4, being outscored 33-21.

New Hampshire 3 @ Akron 11

Yes, 11. Mark Curtis Thigpen down for a two-run homer, but not much of else from the rest. David Purcey started and you can guess how well that went. Bubbie Buzachero pitched a couple of scoreless innings for Akron, but the Jays do have Brian "FREE JASON FRASOR" Tallet. So things are even.

Thigpen did allow his 11th passed ball, which is one of (a) a misleading stat; (b) an indication that his defense is not that great as reported lately; or (c) the fact that I need to fill space before moving on to Dunedin.

Dunedin 5 @ Fort Myers 6

A 2005esque Blue Jays loss, as Dunedin was down 6-3 going into the ninth. Orlando Trias threw six strong, striking out four and walking none, but T.J. Gornati wasn't as good.

Robinzon Diaz went 4-for-5 with four singles, but the "5" was a groundout to end the game with the tying run 127.28 feet away (if Pythagoras taught me anything).

Quad Cities 9 @ Lansing 6

Brian Bormaster doubled and homered, collecting four RBI on the night. David Hicks contributed as well with three hits.

Lansing made five errors, leading to all of Po-Hsuan Keng's runs allowed being unearned. Naturally, he still got tagged with the loss (check out that 8th inning). Chi-Hung Cheng started and put in five decent innings. Do Cheng and Keng always pitch in the same games, by the way?

State College 8 @ Auburn 7

Give props to the pitchers at the end, who kept Auburn in this one -- Dennis Bigley and Seth Overbey with three sort-of scoreless innings. The hitters had a couple of three-run innings: the first featuring a two-run Shawn Scobee single and the second with a three-run homer from 12th-rounder Jonathan Diaz, his first of his career (and only his third if you count his three years of college).

Three Star Selection:
3. Jonathan Diaz
2. Curtis "Diaz" Thigpen
1. Robinzon Diaz
