Has there ever been a bigger birthday for MLB than October 20? That's a real question, and not just because today is my dad's birthday and we did an All-October 20 team a year ago.

Dave Collins (395 SB) was a nice player, but he pales in comparison to Keith Hernandez (.296, 11 straight Gold Gloves); neither holds a candle to Juan Gonzalez (two MVPs, .295, 434 homers through 2005) not to mention Hall of Famers like legendary Negro League 3B Judy Johnson and The Mick who is neither dad nor me, Mickey Mantle (.298, 536 homers). Oh, and on the hill? RHSP Juan Marichal was 243-142 on his way to Cooperstown. There were a few other decent players born on 10/20, but that group right there might just qualify today as The Day To Be Born for ballplayers.
