The Chiefs bullpen was fully aligned with its parent yesterday as they blew two saves.  The Lansing fielders didn't give the bullpen a chance to blow the game, eight errors blew the game before the bullpen could.  Dqavid Purcey had his worst start of the season.  Dunedin won behind John Thompson.  Travis Snider had three more hits.

Lousville 6  Syracuse 5 - game 1, 7 innings

Syracuse looked good until the final inning when a blown save cost them the game, sound familiar?  Curtis Thigpen hit a two run home run in the first, Chad Moeller homered off Josh Banks in the third to tie the game.  In the bottom of the third the Chiefs scored three runs on one hit, thanks to a walk and two errors.  Lousville got two back in the fifth on three consecutive hits and a sac fly and Banks was done after five innings with four runs allowed.  Jamie Vermilyea put two runners on with one out in the seventh and Brian Wolfe came on and gave up consecutive singles to score two runs and blow the save, with an assist to Vermilyea.  Wayne Lydon was the only Chief with two hits.

Among those playing for Louisville were ex-Jay Tyrell Godwin who is hitting .247, Mark Bellhorn hitting .298 and Canadian Joey Votto hitting .221

Lousville 3  Syracuse 2 - game 2, 7 innings

This was a game the Chiefs should have won, they left two runners on base in each inning from the second to the sixth but only once could they get the runner in scoring position home.  Russ Adams delivered the first run with a home run and Eric Kratz scored the second on a Wayne Lydon single.  Dustin McGowan pitched well enough to win, he shut down Louisville through five before allowing a run in the sixth, McGowan gave up three hits and three walks in his six innings.  Louisville showed how to move runners in the seventh as two fly balls moved a runner on second to third and home to provide the winning run.  Beau Kemp took the loss.

New Hampshire 5  Portland 10

For all you asking when player X is getting promoted based on a couple of good appearances this start by David Purcey is the answer.  Purcey was not sharp, he allowed a couple of hits in the first, another hit in the second, and then two walks and a home run in the third.  Purcey gave up hits to the first two runners in the sixth, but then Justin James made it a rout by giving up three more hits, and four runs, making it a 8-0 game.  New Hampshire scored five in the eighth including a three run home run from David Smith but it wasn't enough.  Manny Mayorson and David Smith had two hits each.

Fort Myers 4  Dunedin 6

John Thompson pitched seven strong innings with four runs, one earned allowed.  Dunedin converted three walks and two singles into two runs in the second, and then three singles, a walk and a hit batter into three more runs in the sixth.  Josh Kreuzer added a home run in the seventh. Anthony Hatch and Josh Kreuzer had two hits each, Eric Nielsen had three.

Lansing 3  Cedar Rapids 9

Kyle Ginley struggled again giving up five runs, two earned in 3.1 innings.  Chris Reddout gave up tthree more runs, none earned.  That is six unearned runs as Lansing made ..... eight, yes 8, errors in this game.  Travis Snider had three hits and a stolen base to push his average to .362.  Yuber Rodriguez had two hits.

3 star selection

3rd star - Eric Nielsen
2nd star - Dustin McGowan
1st star - Josh Kreuzer, 2 hits, home run, two runs, two RBI's
