Nathan Starner threw five hitless innings as four Lansing pitchers combined for a one hitter.  Syracuse rode the hot hitting of Curtis Thigpen, Rey Olmedo and Howie Clark to victory while Dunedin threw their game away.  New Hampshire were all wet and will play one and a half today.

Indianapolis 5  Syracuse 7

John Thomson returned and pitched five innings.  Indy scored a run on three hits in the third but the Chiefs answered with a run in the bottom of the third.  Russ Adams, back from a couple of days off, walked, went to third on a Curtis Thigpen double, and scored on a groundout.  The Indians added a pair of unearned runs in the fifth.  With runners on first and third, and one out, both runners scored when the runner from first stole second base and for some undetermined reason John Hattig threw the ball away allowing both runners to score.

The Chiefs answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, Thigpen walked and Howie Clark hit a two run home run.  The Chiefs went ahead with small ball in the sixth, Jeff Duncan walked, stole second and scored when Nick Green threw away the ball on a sac bunt by Rey Olmedo.  Syracuse scored three big runs in the seventh, Clark walked and stole second, Wayne Lydon singled him home, Duncan walked, Olmedo singled and when the Indy shortstop threw the ball away both runners scored to make it 7-3.  Mike Venafro, with an error by Barker, gave up two runs in the eighth but Jordan DeJong got the last four outs for the save.

Thigpen went 3-4 to push his average to .314, Olmedo had two hits and is hitting .311, Lydon had two hits and Clark scored twice and added two RBI's.

Binghamton 5  New Hampshire 4 - game suspended in fifth inning

This game was suspended due to rain in the fifth inning.  Fisher Cat starter Kurt Isenberg was already done before the rain came, he pitched four innings and gave up five runs on four hits and three walks.  Juan Peralta was 2-2 with 2 RBI's.  This game will be continued on Saturday.

Dunedin 3 Lakeland 4 - 10 innings

Kristian Bell made his second start of the year and it was another good one, he went six innings and gave up one run on six hits.  Dunedin scored their first run to tie the game in the fifth, Al Quintana singled, Brian Jeroloman walked and Carlo Cota drove in the run.  Dunedin went ahead in the sixth, Cory Patton got on base on an error and after a ground out Quintana singled him home.  The Jays went ahead 3-1 in the eighth when Kyle Philips doubled and scored on a sac fly from Jeroloman.  Falkenbach gave up two runs in the ninth to let Lakeland tie the game.  A lead off triple was followed by an error by Quintana.  The runner stole second and tagged to go to third on a fly ball, Luis Sanchez threw the ball away allowing the tying run to score.  Yesson Berroa gave up a lead-off walk in the tenth, followed by a sac bunt, another error by Quintana and a game winning single.  Dunedin made five errors in this game.  Cota, Patton and Quintana had two hits each, Jeroloman was 0-0 with three walks and a sac fly.

Butler was 3-4, Philips and Kreuzer had two hits each, and Jeroloman was 1-2 with 2 walks.

Lansing 11  Wisconsin 0

Nathan Starner was the story in this game, five hitless innings with eight strikeouts and two walks.  Edward Rodriguez gave up one hit in his two innings while Seth Overbey and Paul Phillips pitched a hitless inning each.  Four Lansing pitchers combined for a one hitter.  Lansing scored all the runs they needed and more, three, in the first inning when Matt Liuzza doubled with the bases loaded to pick up three RBI's.  Travis Snider hit a home run, his second, in the third to make it 4-0. Lansing tacked on five runs in the fifth including a 2 run home run by Liuzza.

Liuzza went 2-5 with five ribbies; Snider was 3-4 to bump his average to .366; Raul Barron went 2-5 in his first game of the year.
