Kyle 'X' Phillips and Kyle Yates led the way in the minors yesterday.

Syracuse 6 at Columbus 5

The Chiefs rallied for the win in this one. Trailing 5-3 Syracuse got solo HRs from JFG in the 6th and Russ Adams in the 7th. The winning run scored in the 9th inning compliments of a Kevin Barker double. Adams was 2-4 with a walk, Barker had 3 hits including 2 doubles, Mottola had 2 hits including a HR, and Jeff Duncan also had two hits.

On the mound Michael MacDonald had a tough outing giving up 5 runs in 5.2 innings. He struck out 4, walked 2 and continued to get groundball outs - 10 ground outs to 3 fly ball outs. Jim Crowell pitched 2.1 scoreless innings for the win and Blaine Neal picked up the save.

Akron 1 at New Hampshire 2

A David Smith 2 run HR was enough runs for the Fisher Cats to pull out the win. Robinzon Diaz had two hits and a walk.

Kyle Yates pitched his best game of the season giving up no runs and no walks while striking out 7 in 7 innings. Brandon League gave up a run in the 8th on a double, ground out and wild pitch. Game Over Gronk pitched a perfect 9th for the save.

Dunedin 5 at Tampa 6

Kyle Phillips hit another Tuesday HR - a 3 run HR - and went 3-5 on the night. Anthony Hatch also had 3 hits in 6 ABs.

Brandon Magee got the start for the D-Jays and allowed 2 runs in 5 innings. On the night he allowed 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out 2.

Dayton 10 at Lansing 6

An interesting game here. Dayton got out to a 10-0 lead after 7 innings as they got 4 runs in 5.1 innings against starter Nathan Starner. The floodgates then opened on reliever Julio Pinto who gave up 6 runs in 1.2 innings.

But the Nuts didn't give up. They put up a 6 spot in the 8th inning on a walk, single, walk, walk, single, double and sac fly.

Travis Snider returned to the team (perhaps during the game) and went 1-1 with a sac fly.

3 Stars!:
3 - David Smith
2 - Kyle Phillips
1 - Kyle Yates

Some draft links are below. What I find interesting is that many players had a good idea that the Jays were interested in them and/or came to Toronto (or Dunedin) for a work out prior to the draft. It'd be nice if this information was more public prior to the draft. From the articles it sounds like Ahrens, Jackson and Tolisano are all willing to sign.

The Tolisano article is interesting. Apparently at the end of the supplemental round the Jays called him and said they'd take him at 85. But apparently the Nationals also told him they were going to take him (apparently at 67 or 70) but never did.

A bunch of early signings - players in bold are signed - a couple of later round HSers are included in the signings. It looks like McDade might be shifted to 1b now as that's the listed position at BA and the Jays signed the other HS catcher they took in the 13th round.

It sounds like the Jays are holding a mini-camp this week for players before being assigned to teams.  Auburn's season begins next Tuesday.
