Several players had their first pro home runs in the GCL yesterday as the affiliates went 4-2 on the day.

Syracuse 3 @ Norfolk 4

Besides JFG the Chief bats were quiet last night.  Griffin had a triple and double in 4 ABs, scoring 2 runs and driving in the third.

It was a bullpen game for Syracuse.  Crowell started, giving up 2 runs in 3.1 innings.  Brandon League gave up the other 2 runs in a single inning of work (1 earned).

New Hampshire 9 @ Portland 4

NH broke open a 4-4 tie with a 5 spot in the 7th inning.  The big blow was a Ryan Patterson grand slam who was 3-4 that also included a double.

Kyle Yates started and put up a Towers-like line:  5.2 innings, 4 runs, 9 hits, 1 HR, 0 BB, 3 Ks.  Seth Overbey pitched 3 scoreless innings for the save.  His ERA in NH is now 1.72, although his K/BB is poor.

Dunedin 3 @ Sarasota 6

The D-Jays managed just 5 hits on the night.  However, two of those were HRs - one by Kyle Phillips and the other by Cory Patton.  Patton also had a double on the night.

Trias started for Dunedin and gave up all 6 runs, although just 3 were earned as the D-Jays had 3 errors on the night.

South Bend 3 @ Lansing 6

Sean Shoffit led the Nut offense with 2 doubles in 4 ABs.  Travis Snider went 0-3 with 2 walks.

Rey Gonzalez started and gave up 3 runs in the first two innings before settling down and pitching 3 scoreless innings after that.  Pinto & Martin pitched the final 4 innings to secure the win.

Mahoning Valley 6 @ Auburn 9

Auburn scores 9 runs - you'd expect a few good hitting lines.  However, Barron Frost had 2 hits and  Emaus had a HR.  No other Doubleday had 2 hits or an extra base hit on the night.

Starter Luis Perez gave up 5 runs in 4 innings.

Jays 13 @ Braves 0

James Dougher pitched 5 scoreless innings, giving up just 2 hits and one walk while striking out 5.  Cook & Leffler each pitched 2 scoreless innings.

Three of the HS players the Jays drafted this year each had their first pro HRs - Kevin Ahrens, Eric Eiland, and Mike McDade.  Ahrens had 3 hits in all as well as Bartolo Nicholas.  Jon Del Campo had a single and double.  John Tolisano had a hit and 2 walks.

3 Stars!:
3 - Cory Patton
2 - Kevin Ahrens
1 - Ryan Patterson
