Jesus Leads Dunedin to Victory

Jesus Gonzalez had a big day as Dunedin won.  Syracuse and Lansing had come from behind wins and in the process took advantage of errors by their opponents.  New Hampshire took the lone loss.

Rochester 2  Syracuse 3 - 10 innings

This game was tied at 1 after nine innings.  Kane Davis started and piitched six innings for the Chiefs.  He allowed just one run despite giving up six hits and five walks.  Brandon League pitched three excellent relief innings with two hits allowed.  Mike Gallo, who has struggled a bit since being called up to AAA, started the tenth and allowed the go ahead run to Rochester. 

In the bottom of the tenth, with one out, Eric Kratz singled.  Marcos Cabral then reached on an error by the pitcher putting two on.  Wayne Lydon promptly doubled in both runners to win the game for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs had nine hits, Buck Coats and Curtis Thigpen had two each.

Today's Chiefs game is being played at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown.


New Hampshire 3  Trenton 4

New Hampshire led 2-1 going to the bottom of the sixth, but in that inning Trenton scored two unearned runs as the Fisher Cats made two errors.  Trenton scored again in the seventh and led 4-2.  scott Richmond gave up three runs, but only one earned, and took the loss.

Scott Campbell homered leading off the game to get New Hampshire on the board.  In the third travis Snider walked and scored on a David Smith double. 

Trailing 4-2 in the eighth Smith and Kyle Phillips both walked with two outs.  Jacob Butler singled to load the bases.  Ryan Patterson also singled to score one run but Phillips was thrown out at the plate to end the inning and leave New Hampshire one run short.

New Hampshire had seven hits, Anthony Hatch had two.

Dunedin 4  Lakeland 2

Dunedin scored first, in the second inning, Jesus Gonzalez doubled in Brian Dopirak.  Kyle Ginley gave up single runs in the second and third innings to put Lakeland ahead but Gonzalez doubled in two runs in the top of the fourth to put the Jays ahead.  In the seventh Gonzalez led off with a single and later scored on a sac fly.
 
The Jays had nine hits, Jesus Gonzalez had three, scored a run and drove in three.  Dopirak and Adam Calderone had two.  

Kyle Ginley pitched five innings, giving up the two runs on five hits with four K's.  Ginley's ERA at high A is now 1.59.


Lansing 5  West Michigan 3

Lansing trailed 3-1 after seven innings.  In the eighth Justin Jackson was hit by a pitch, Kevin Ahrens reached on an error and Matt Liuzza walked to load the bases with two outs.  John Tolisano delivered a tqo run single to tie the game.  In the ninth, with a tie game, Johermyn Chavez led off with a single.  darin mastroianni forced Chavez out at second but then stole second base.  Moises Sierra reached on an error and Justin Jackson walked to load the bases.  Ahrens hit a sac fly to put Lansing ahead and a wild pitch gave the Lugnuts a two run margin.

Luis Perez started and pitched five innings giving up two runs.  Alan Farina pitched three good innings in releif to get the win, allowing one run.

Lansing had six hits, no-one had two.
