At least Mother Nature came through for the other two affiliates.  I think Porky Pig said it best.

Fresno 6 Las Vegas 5

Las Vegas, NV - Dirk Hayhurst had something in common with Roy Halladay last night - they each gave up five runs.  The big difference was that Hayhurst only lasted half as long as Doc did as he managed to get throught just four innings.  Hayhurst gave up a run in the second on a double and single and then was lit up for four runs in the third, thanks to a two-out grand slam by Matt Downs.  The only positive for Hayhurst was he managed to pick off a runner from first before the slam.

The 51's finally got on the board against the Giants affiliate in the home half of the third when Scott Campbell doubled and moved to third on a sac bunt by Angel Sanchez.  He then came home on a booted groundball at second off the bat of Russ Adams.  Hayhurst put up a goose egg in the fourth before he was relieved by Sean Stidfole in the fifth.  He went two scoreless innings, overcoming a Randy Ruiz error in the fifth and a single in the sixth.

Las Vegas then got two runs in the sixth when Ruiz belted a home run to right to score Buck Coats, who reached on a fielder's choice to make it a 5-3 game.  Stidfole had a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh but the offence could not respond despite an Aaron Matthews double and a Scott Campbell infield single to short that may have produced a run had it gone through.  Instead, the 51's could not take advantage of having runners at the corners with one out.

Brian Wolfe relieved Stidfole in the eighth and survived a double and infield single to third but he wasn't so lucky in the ninth when he gave up a double and a single that made it through the infield and it was 6-3 Fresno.  The 51's tried to rally in the ninth with two outs when Howie Clark singled and Campbell got aboard thanks to catcher's interference.  Sanchez and Brett Harper  knocked them home with RBI singles to make it a one-run game but Coats left the tying run at third with a fly ball to left to end the game.

Hayhurst gave up five runs on 10 hits and a walk.  Stidfole got five groundouts in three shutout innings of work while allowing just one hit while Wolfe gave up a run on four hits in two innings but did manage to induce three groundball outs.   At the dish, Campbell had the lone two-hit night while Sanchez had a single and walk.  Ruiz belted his fifth homer of the year while Adams, Matthews and Campbell had a double each.

Daytona 12 Dunedin 0

Dunedin, FL - Holy sheepsh*t!  No need to waste a whole of bandwidth on Dunedin's fifth straight loss.  It was just 1-0 after four but the cheese slipped off the cracker in the fifth as the Cubs exploded for a touchdown and two point conversion while booting a field goal in the sixth.  Brandon Magee gave up six runs in 4 1/3 innings and lefty Cody Crowell gave up another six in 1 1/3 innings and they allowed a home run a piece.  Chad Beck, Bobby Bell and Danny Farquhar supplied shutout relief the rest of the way with Beck whiffing three.

The D-Jays only mustered four singles with Kevin Ahrens getting a hit and a walk.  John Tolisano got his first hit of the year while Moises Sierra and Darin Mastroianni had the others.  Mastroianni is hitting .340 on the season.  Justin Jackson struck out twice to see his average fall to .173 while Eric Thames had the hat trick.
