Las Vegas lost despite a good start from Brad Mills but the other three affiliates won. Al Quintana hit a grand slam for the Fisher Cats, Tim Collins got the win for the D-Jays to outshine Casey Janssen and BJ Ryan, and Henderson Alvarez pitched a complete game to lead the Lugnuts. Darin Mastroianni got things started and finished for Dunedin.
The bullpen blew up and ruined a very good start by Brad Mills. Mills pitched 6.1 innings and gave up one earned run, two total on seven hits. Mills threw 59 of his 84 pitches for strikes, a big improvvement over his last couple of starts. Mills left the game with a 5-2 lead but Bryan Bullington allowed three runs in the eighth and Jonah Bayliss gave up the winning, walk-off, run in the ninth.
Las Vegas had taken a 4-1 lead in the fifth thanks to a three run home run by Howie Clark and a solo home run by Brett Harper. Clark drove in another un in the seventh to make it a 5-1 game.
New Hampshire 12 New Britain 0
Despite the score this was a close game for a long time, the score was 1-0 heading to the seventh. But New Hampshire broke out the bats in the last three innings to revenge a doubleheader loss the previous day.
New Hampshire scored in the fourth inning, David Cooper doubled and Brian Dopirak delivered an RBI single. The Fisher Cats scored four in the seventh, Sean Shoffit tripled in a pair and Jon Diaz and Brad Emaus each doubled in a run. NH added a run in the eighth when Dopirak doubled to lead off the inning and scored on a single from Al Quintana. The Fisher Cats scored six in the ninth including a Quintana grand slam.
Quintana was 4-5 with five rbi's. Emaus, Dopirak, Shoffit and Diaz each had 2 hits.
Brandon Magee, Edgar Estanga and Celson Polanco combined on the shutout.
Casey Janssen and BJ Ryan pitched in this game but Tim Collins got the win as the Jays won in the bottom of the ninth. Janssen gave up a double to the first hitter of the game and he scored with a couple of ground outs. Janssen pitched five innings and just allowed the one run on four hits. while it looks like a successful start for Janssen the Jays want him to build up his stamina and he needs to pitch six and seven innings before the Jays will look to call him up.
Cody Crowell pitched the sixth and gave up two runs. BJ Ryan pitched a 3-up, 3-down seventh although he didn't get a strikeout.
The Jays evened the score in the bottom of the first on a "Mastroianni run", he walked, stole second and third and scored on a Moises Sierra single. The Jays trailed 3-1 heading to the bottom of the seventh but tied it with two runs. Kevin Ahrens walked and scored on a CJ Ebarb double. Raul Barron then doubled Ebarb home to make it a 3-3 game. Tim Collins pitched two shutout innings with three more strikeouts to get to the bottom of the ninth. Adam Loewen worked a leadoff walk, after a groundout moved him to second Ebarb was intentionally walked. Barron then walked to load the bases and Mastroianni singled home the winning run.
Henderson Alvarez pitched a complete game four hitter. He had just one K and had 17 ground outs to nine fly outs. Alvarez just turned 19 years old a couple of weeks ago and in his last two starts he has pitched 16 innings and allowed just 8 hits.
The Lugnuts scored in the second inning, Yohermyn Chavez led off with a double and scored on a Jon Del Campo single. Del Campo later scored on a ground out to make it 2-0. In the third Kenny Wilson and Tyler Pastornicky singled and Wilson scored on an error. Wilson singled and scored again in the eighth.
Wilson and Sobolewski had two hits each.
