It was a rather uninspiring night on the farm with the late Las Vegas result still pending. The other three clubs went 1-2. UPDATE: Am I ever glad I didn't wait up... Las Vegas lost in 16 innings.

The late game of the day went even later than usual as the winning run did not score until the 16th inning. David Purcey had a nice start (yes, you heard that right) by allowing just one run in seven innings of work. He allowed seven hits and three walks, while striking out two. Dirk Hayhurst and Bryan Bullington each worked two scoreless innings and TJ Beam went three. Bill Murphy, who has been brutal since his demotion, allowed the winning run to score on three walks and an intentional walk. Buck Coats and Angel Sanchez both went 2-for-6. Coats stole a base. JP Arencibia was 0-for-7 with one K. Aaron Mathews and Randy Ruiz were a combined 0-for-12 in the 2/3 holes. Travis Snider was 1-for-5 with a BB and two Ks.
Reading 8 New Hampshire 7
The Fisher Cats staff found out why outfielder Michael Taylor is one of the Phillies' top prospects. The Stanford product had five hits in the game and drove in four runs. Luis Perez had the start for the Toronto affiliate and the ground-ball pitcher allowed four runs over five innings. He gave up nine hits and three walks, while also striking out five batters. Bubbie Buzachero continued his hot pitching and lowered his ERA to 1.17 with 2.1 shutout innings. Daniel Farquhar allowed an unearned run while battling his control and walking two in during two-thirds of an inning. Offensively, David Cooper showed some life with three hits, including two doubles. Todd Donovan and Al Quintana had two hits each. Quintana blasted his third home run of the year. Brian Dopirak was 0-for-5.
Sarasota 4 Dunedin 1
Vincent Bongiovanni allowed four runs on six hits and two walks during five innings of work. He also struck out six batters. Leon Boyd worked a scoreless inning and struck out three. Trystan Magnuson and Celson Polanco also pitched shutout innings. Matt Liuzza made a triumphant return after a long stay on the DL, although he was the designated hitter, and he hit a home run. Sean Shoffit, John Tolisano and Moises Sierra went hitless at the top of the order (0-for-11). Jesus Gonzalez had two hits - both doubles. Justin Jackson also had two hits, including one double. Adam Loewen was 0-for-3 with two Ks.
Lansing 6 Quad Cities 2
Lansing came out as the victor from this contest despite making four errors in the field (Pastornicky, Sobolewski, Fernandez, and McClanahan). Chad Beck, having been demoted from Dunedin but moved from the bullpen to the rotation, allowed two runs in five innings. He gave up six hits but did not walk a batter and he struck out two hitters. Dustin Antolin, a native of Hawaii, worked three scorless innings and allowed just one hit. Tyler Pastornicky had a double, two walks and scored two runs. Brian Van Kirk had two hits and drove in two runs. Mark Sobolewski also drove in two on two hits. Chris Emanuele, another demotee, had two hits. Justin McClanahan was 0-for-4 with two Ks and Markus Brisker continued to be over-matched with a 1-for-4 night and three Ks.
