The bats and brooms were out Monday night, as both Dunedin and Las Vegas had big offensive days, with Dunedin sweeping their two game tilt against St. Lucie.

The Tacoma Rainiers, who are named after the former PCL Seattle Rainiers, who were named after the Rainier Brewing Company, which was named after Mount Rainier, which was named after Rear Admiral Peter Rainier, who was named after his father Peter Rainier of Sandwich, which was named after a delicious BLT I made for dinner... where was I? Oh yeah, The Rainiers scored in 6 different innings on this night, but it wasn't enough as the 51s banged out 10 runs on 17 hits. Tacoma went ahead 2-0 in the first, but Las Vegas put 4 in their half of the inning and never relinquished the lead, even though Tacoma got within a single run four different times.
David Purcey started for the 51s and had an unusual start for him - he only walked one batter, and usually, for Purcey, that means he was great. That was not the case. David allowed 11 hits in his 6.1 innings, resulting in 7 runs, 6 earned. He got the win, though. He also struck out 5 and had a 9-5 GO-AO ratio. Brian Wolfe and Jeremy Accardo were just effective enough in relief.
Lots of hitters swung the big bat - particularly Buck Coats, who had 2 doubles and a walk in 5 trips, Kyle Phillips with 4 singles, Brett Harper with a single and a triple, and Angel Sanchez, who doubled and singled twice, drove in 3 and scored twice.

Dunedin 12 at St. Lucie 1 (game 1)
Um, where to begin? Dunedin scored 12 runs in 7 innings. Actually, they scored 12 runs in 3 innings, and then the "formidable" St. Lucie bullpen shut them down for the rest of the game. Every Dunedin hitter reached base. Kevin Ahrens was the worst, going 0-3 with a walk. Other than Ahrens, every batter got a hit and scored a run. I can't really highlight just a couple of the hitters, so here goes: Darin Mastroianni was 3-5, Moises Sierra was 2-5 with a grand slam, Jesus Gonzalez was 2-4 with a HR and 4 RBIs, Adam Loewen was 2-3 with a BB, Justin Jackson was 2-4 with a double.
Kenny Rodriguez didn't need to be nearly as good as he was - he went 5 innings, and allowed just a run on 5 hits and 3 walks. He struck out 4, though only got 2 ground outs to 8 flyouts. Leon Boyd pitched 2 perfect innings - unfortunately, he couldn't pick up the cheap save, since the doubleheader ensured the game only went 7.
Dunedin 4 at St. Lucie 1 (game 2)
In the second game of the double-header, Vincent Bongiovanni pitched almost the same game as Kenny Rodriguez. He pitched the same number of innings (5) allowed the same number of hits (4), one more walk (4), one fewer run (0) and struck out one more better (5).
The offense, on the other hand, wasn't nearly the same as in game 1, but they were good enough. John Tolisano led the way with 2 doubles, and C.J. Ebarb hit a 2 run homer. Darin Mastroianni had 2 more hits to give him 5 on the day and stole his 30th base of the year, while Justin Jackson went 0-1 with 2 BBs and a SB and Moises Sierra continued his good day by going 1-3 with a BB and a SB.
