Honestly, this was depressing to read and write about. Absolutely nothing of note went on for the affiliates as they picked up one win in five tries. I'm just writing out the string at this point.
Kevin Howard, Buck Coats, and Jason Lane each had two hits for the 51s while Aaron Mathews drove in a pair. J.P. Arencibia was 0-for-3 but did manage a walk.
Davis Romero started and was his normally ineffective self allowing five runs on seven hits in five innings. Dirk Hayhurst took the loss in relief but pitched fairly well regardless.
The Fisher Cats blew a late 4-2 lead to drop the first half of a doubleheader. Brad Emaus and Todd Donovan each managed a pair of hits while David Cooper was 0-for-2 but walked twice and scored a run.
Kenny Rodriguez started and went five allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three. But the normally reliable Danny Farquhar and Tim Collins conspired to blow things by allowing three runs over the final two frames. Collins did, of course, strike a batter out.
The Cats exacted their revenge in the nightcap thanks in large part to a 2-for-3 effort from Nick Gorneault which included a two-run homer and three RBI total. David Cooper was 0-for-4 but did drive in a pair. Darin Mastroianni had two hits but somehow didn't steal a base. Weird.
Nate Starner took the hill and pitched admirably going 5.1 frames and allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out two. Tryston Magnuson picked up the final five outs allowing just one hit.
Dunedin Blue Jays- Scheduled Day Off. And right in the middle of a four game series. Wacky stuff.
Lansing 2 Fort Wayne 3 (13 innings)
Having trouble scoring is nothing new for the Lugnuts but on Sunday they managed just two runs despite knocking out 12 hits. Wellinton Ramirez continued his hot start to Lo-A with a 3-for-5 night which included two doubles and a walk. He's now 7-for-13 as a Lugnut. Other than that, a few guys picked up a few hits but the big news was the combined 17 strikeouts of Lugnut hitters.
Joel Carreno took the hill and managed 6.2 frames allowing just one run on three hits. He did walk four, though. Jonas Cuotto took this loss by allowing a run over his two frames.
Might as well finish the day with a loss. The Doubledays were trounced thanks to shaky performances by three separate pitchers. Matthew Morgal, Zach Anderson, and Zach Outman each allowed two runs over three, two, and two innings respectively.
At the plate, Sean Ochinko and Eric Eiland each had a pair of hits. Eiland is now hitting over .200 so there's that.
