A fairly tame day on the farm but a 25 year-old continued an incredible start to his season.
Las Vegas 1 Colorado 3 (Game 1)
Not of a heck of a lot to discuss in this one. Pretty boring, actually. Brett Wallace and Brian Dopirak each had a hit. Dopirak's was a double. And, um, four other 51s did as Zzzzzzzzzzz. Whoa, sorry about that.
On the mound, Robert (Bobby? Bob? Rob? I can never remember) Ray attempted to work himself back into the giant picture of potential Jays starters with a mixed bag performance. Ray went five, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks to go against four strikeouts. Not really a mixed bag, actually. Just kind of a crappy one.
Las Vegas 0 Colorado Springs 7
Aw, man. I wish I hadn't used the "zzzzz" joke in the first recap. This game was worse. The 51s managed but four hits. Two were doubles and both came off the bat off Chris Aguila who is 31 years-old.
Steven Register started and sucked, though he did strike out five in three innings. Zach Jackson relieved and was alright.
Binghamton 1 New Hampshire 3
So don't forget Luis Perez when it comes to the aforementioned potential starters picture. All he did today was the heavy lifting in a one-hit victory. Perez went seven, allowed the only hit, walked four and struck out three. For those keeping track, Perez now has a 0.53 ERA and two hits allowed in seventeen innings. Again, two hits in seventeen innings. Two hits, seventeen innings. Two. Seventeen.
Trystan Magnuson and Danny Farquhar, who are quickly becoming New Hampshire's version of Ward and Henke, shut the Mets down in the 8th and 9th respectively.
At the dish, David Cooper was on an all-or-nothing kick going 2-for-5 with a run scored and 3 strikeouts. Adam Calderone had a pair of hits while Darin Mastroianni walked twice and stole his 5th base of the year. I really want that guy to make it.

Bowling Green 3 Lansing 4
Bradley Glenn, the Jays 23rd rounder in 2009, continued his hot start with a HR, single and 2 RBI. The 23 year-old is hitting 366/409/610 in 41 AB so far. Balbino Fuenmayor kept up his strikeout parade with two more whiffs. That gives him 14 in 39 AB. Eric Eiland contributed a pair of hits to bump his average to .293. It's early, of course, but Eiland's usually hovering about 100 points lower so let's run with it. He also stole his first base of the season.
Nothing big on the mound. Ryan Shopshire started and was alright in his five frames. Aaron Loup picked up the save and has now gone 8.2 scoreless frames to begin the year.
