There was one victory in three games on the farm, as Las Vegas had the day off. Dunedin won a one-run game, while Lansing lost in extra innings on an error. Meanwhile, New Hampshire was shut out by an unlikely source.

New Hampshire 0 @ Akron 2 - Boxscore
Unheralded Scott Barnes, sporting a 7.17 ERA coming into the game, held New Hampshire to 2 hits over 7 innings and struck out 10 batters. Recently promoted Bryce Stowell pitched the last 2 innings for Akron and surrendered one hit. Eric Thames, Manny Mayorson and Al Quintana were the three Fisher Cats to scratch singles off the Akron pitchers. Mayorson was the offensive player of the game for New Hampshire, as not only was he one of the three batters to get a hit, but he also stole a base and was also one of the two Fisher Cats to not strike out in the game. Shawn Bowman was the other batter not to strike out and Darin Mastroianni and Calix Crabbe failed to set the table for Bowman, combining to go 0-for-8 with 6 strikeouts.
Luis Perez started for the Fisher Cats and threw an 8-inning complete game. Perez struggled with his control at times, walking four, and he also surrendered four hits. However, he struck out 8 and limited Akron to 2 runs, which was more than they needed during this night.
Dunedin 5 @ Clearwater 4 – Boxscore
Dunedin improved to 34-26 with a 1-run victory over Clearwater last night. Joel Carreno started and went 6 innings, allowing all four runs. Carreno surrendered five hits and two walks on six strikeouts. Carreno turned the game over to the bullpen and Frank Gailey, Alan Farina and Matthew Daly each pitched a hitless inning. This work allowed Dunedin to take the lead and each pitcher was rewards: Gailey improved to 4-1, Farina picked up his 10th hold and Daly his 15th save.
Adeiny Hechavarria had a strong game, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs. He was followed by Brad McElroy was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Both Hechevarria and McElroy added a stolen base. Travis d’Arnaud hit third and was 1-for-2 with a walk and 2 RBI. Hot-hitting Michael McDade was held hitless, but John Tolisano was 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs. Wellinton Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a 2-out RBI.
Lansing 1 @ Peoria 2 (10 innings) – Boxscore
Dave Sever started for Lansing and went 5 innings without surrendering a run. Sever also had struggles with his control, walking four, but he only surrendered two hits and struck out six. He turned the ball over to Tulane product Aaron Loup, who similarly walked 3 batters in 2.2 innings. Loup gave up two hits, struck out one and allowed Peoria to score, tying the game at 1-1. Brian Slover came in with two runners on base and escaped the jam to get out of the 8th inning. Slover didn’t allow a hit over 2 innings, but he walked a pair, struck out three and allowed the winning run, although it was unearned.
However, that shouldn’t let Slover off the hook, as it was his error that set up the winning run for Peoria. After walking the leadoff batter of the 10th inning, Slover tried to pick him off and threw wildly to first, allowing the runner to advance to third. After retiring a batter on a strikeout, Slover walked the next hitter to set up the double play. Things appeared to be going perfectly according to plan when Slover then induced a ground ball to Ryan Goins. Unfortunately, the batter, DJ Fitzgerald, beat Oliver Dominguez’s throw to first base and the force out was sufficient to score the winning run and end the game.
Karim Turkmani and Mark Sobolewski were the only two Lugnuts to have a multi-hit game. Each player had two hits, with Sobolewski notching his 14th and 15th doubles of the year. Dominguez was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks, a stolen base and his fourth error of the year. Chris Hopkins and Ryan Schimpf were each 1-for-5 with a stolen base attempt; the former was successful and the latter was thrown out. The Lugnuts were 0-for-11 as a team with runners in scoring position
