The affiliates went 0-5 and were outscored 38-11.

Las Vegas 3 @ Portland 6Boxscore

No Las Vegas batter had more than one hit in the afternoon game. Brian Dopirak had the team’s only home run, which was a solo shot in the fifth inning. The other runs were scored by Brad Emaus and Aaron Mathews. Adam Calderone and Dan Perales picked up the RBIs. Mike McCoy played the last couple of innings in center and picked up an assist, while JP Arencibia and Brett Wallace each went 1-for-4 on the afternoon.

Robert Ray pitched 5.2 innings and gave up two runs. Ray surrendered four hits and allowed one walk. He struck out two batters before turning the ball over to Zach Jackson. Jackson allowed his one inherited runner to score. His day only got worse as Jackson proceeded to give up four of his own runs over 0.2 innings. Merkin Valdez pitched the final 1.2 innings and didn’t allow any further damage.

New Hampshire 4 @ Portland 11 - Boxscore

Randy Boone struggled through 5 innings and wasn’t helped by Adeiny Hechavarria’s first error at Double-A and Shawn Bowman’s impersonation of E5. On 7 hits and 2 walks, Boone surrendered five runs, two unearned, retiring six batters on groundouts against three on fly balls. Vincent Bongiovanni pitched 2 scoreless innings and that was the highlight on the mound. Reclamation project Clint Everts looked every bit the part and allowed 4 runs in a single inning on 3 hits and a pair of walks, while Ronald Uviedo gave up a 2-run homer to the second batter in the bottom of the eighth.

Leadoff hitter Darin Mastroianni was 1-for-4 with a double and two strikeouts. He was followed by Hechavarria who went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk. Eric Thames was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Bowman had the only mutli-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. David Cooper was 0-for-1 with 2 walks and an RBI. Travis Snider continued his rehab, but had an off-night at the plate, going 0-for-4 with 2 punch-outs.

Dunedin 4 @ Brevard County 7Boxscore

Ryan Page started and went 4.1 innings without striking out a batter. Page allowed 4 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks. Six of the 10 batters he retired on balls in play came on fly outs. He turned the ball over to Chad Beck, who struck out 5 batters over 1.2 innings. That was the good part of his line. The bad part was the 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks. Ross Buckwalter and Daniel DeLucia each pitched a scoreless inning of relief with a strikeout.

Travis d’Arnaud was the best at the plate (which isn’t saying a lot). He went 2-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBIs, which so far in the update sounds like the best batting line on the farm tonight. He scored one of the team’s four runs, as did Tyler Pastornicky, who went 1-for-3 with a walk. John Tolisano, playing in centre, and Mark Sobolewski were each 1-for-4 with a single and a run. Brian van Kirk was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Wellinton Ramirez and Jon Talley were among the D-Jays held without a hit.

Lansing 0 @ Great Lakes 8Boxscore

Three hits and three walks. That’s all the Lugnuts could manage on this day. Kenny Wilson, Ryan Goins and third baseman Justin Jackson picked up the three walks. Wilson, Bradley Glenn and Karim Turkamani each had a single. And that was that.

Ryan Shropshire started and allowed 11 hits over 4.1 innings. He was tagged for 4 runs. He also walked 3 batters and struck out 2. Scott Gracey gave up 4 runs on 7 hits over 2.2 innings. In a near miracle, Matt Wright pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Auburn

Scheduled off-day.

GCL Tigers 6 @ GCL Blue Jays 0Boxscore

The GCL Tigers held the GCL Blue Jays to no runs and two hits. Among the names going hitless were Jake Marisnick, KC Hobson and Bryson Namba. The two singles were picked up by Ronald Melendez and Christopher Hawkins. Misual Diaz surrendered 3 runs on 7 hits over 5 innings. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out four. After three scoreless innings from Daniel Barnes and Mike Kelly, Chris Enourato had a tough time closing the door and gave up 3 runs in 0.2 innings for his second rough outing in a row. Drew Elliott had to enter the game to pick up the last out.
