Brad Glenn homered twice while Henderson Alvarez got hammered, again. It all resulted in a 1 win night on the farm with the top two affiliates taking the night off.

Las Vegas - Scheduled Off Day

New Hampshire at Richmond - Postponed

Dunedin 7 at Daytona 8

Jesus Merchan hit a bases clearing 2 out double in the second and Ryan Goins hit another bases loaded double to score two in the third, followed by an Anthony Gose sac fly to put the D-Jays up 6-1. It wouldn't last. Henderson Alvarez, continuing a prolonged stretch of poor play, gave up a single, double and homer in that order in the bottom half of the third to cut things to 6-4. Things would remain this way until the 7th when a Mark Sobolewski solo homer made the score 7-4. In the bottom half of the inning Alvarez allowed 3 of the first 4 runners he faced to reach before he was lifted; all of them would cross to tie the game. A single, sac bunt, groundout and wild pitch the next inning and that was all she wrote. Concepcion Rodriguez, making his FSL debut for the Jays, singled twice; Yan Gomes reached twice with a single and double, Ryan Goins also had two hits with a double and a walk, while Sobolewski hit safely 3 times including his dinger. Gose was 1-3 with a sac fly and a CS; he is 16 for 50 with 2 doubles, 2 triples, 2 homers, 2 walks and 2 steals (4 CS) with Dunedin. Alvarez went 6.1, walked 2 and struck out none, while giving up 8 hits and 7 runs (6 earned). Needless to say it was not a good effort. In his last 10 games (50.2 innings) he has an era over 6 and has given up 72 hits and 15 walks against 34 strikeouts.

Lansing 10 at Dayton 3

Lansing scored 4 in the 6th and 5 in the 9th for good measure as pretty much everyone got involved as the team pounded out 17 hits. Jake Marisnick and Kevin Ahrens were the only Lugnuts without multiple hits; Marisnick went 0fer and Ahrens doubled and scored. Jon Del Campo and Justin Jackson singled twice, Brad Glenn homered twice and drove in 3, K.C. Hobson and Michael Crouse had singles and a double and triple, respectively (Crouse also walked twice and stole a base), while Kenny Wilson and Sean Ochinko each had 3 hits, with Wilson notching a double. Egan Smith got the start for Lansing and was servicable, giving up 3 runs in 5.2, with 3 walks, 3 k's and 5 hits.

Brooklyn 5 at Auburn 2

This one was a close affair until the 7th when Brooklyn scored 5 to take a 4 run lead over Auburn. Misual Diaz spun a sparkling 5 innings, allowing 4 hits and whiffing 4 without allowing a run. Shawn Griffith and Juan Hernandez were not quite as good, combining to give up 5 runs. On the offensive side of the ledger, Carlos Perez, DHing, had 2 singles and a walk in his 4 plate appearances, while Oli Dominguez had a single and a double; Jack Murphy singled twice. Marcus Knecht had a double and three whiffs, while Markus Brisker pinch hit and was 0-2.

GCL Jays 0 at GCL Tigers 2 (Game 1)

GCL Tigers 5 at GCL Jays 4 (Game 2)

Pierce Rankin had 2 hits in the first game while Aaron Sanchez pitched 3 scoreless innings, though he gave up 2 hits and 3 walks to go with his 4 K's. The GCL Jays showed a little more life in the second game but were behind 5-0 before doing all their scoring in the 8th. Art Charles was the only GCL Jay to reach safely more than once with a single and a double; he drove in 2. Canadian Nick Purdy continued his strong play allowing 6 baserunners and 1 run in 4 innings, though he only struck out 1.
