2-4 on an extremely boring final Sunday of the minor league season. Aside from the no-hitter with two outs in the final frame, that is.
Las Vegas 2 Portland 6
The 51s didn't put up much of a fight in their penultimate game of the year. The offence managed just three hits, including a homer from Mike Jacobs. Brad Emaus was 0-for-1 but with his customary two walks.
Scott Richmond started and lost for Vegas going four innings and allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out a pair. Lance Broadway went the final four, giving up but two hits.
New Hampshire 2 Portland 9
Huh, this looks familiar. I wonder if they're staying in the same hotel. Just four hits for the Fisher Cats, one each for Adeiny Hechavarria and David Cooper. Adam Loewen had the only RBI. Boring stuff all around.
Mixed bag on the mound as four pitchers threw. Three sucked including starter Clint Everts and reliever Vincent Bongiovanni. I just like typing his name.
Dunedin 4 Tampa 3
This one's a bit better. Ryan Schimpf led the way with two hits, including a triple, and three runs scored. Moises Sierra was 2-for-4 with a double and Mark Sobolewski had just one hit but drove in three.
Ryan Shopshire started and went five allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks against three strikeouts. Russ Buckwalter got the win and Evan Crawford nailed down the save.
Lansing 6 Lake County 8 (Game 1)
Jon Del Campo swung the big bat in this one with two hits including his first Hi-A HR. Karim Turkamani chipped in a pair of hits while Jake Marisnick was 0-for-1 with a walk and a sacrifice.
Matt Fields started and allowed five runs on five hits in four and a third while Brian Slover picked up the loss in a third of an inning. Economical.
Lansing 3 Lake County 1 (Game 2)
Daniel Webb started and carried a no-no until two outs in the seventh which just happens to be the final inning on a doubleheader day. But a single to his final batter ruined the day. Still, 6.2 frames of one hit (but five walk) ball is nothing to sneeze at. Casey Beck nailed down the final out for the save.
Bradley Glenn had two hits including his 17th HR while Jake Marisnick was 1-for-3 with an RBI double and two strikeouts and a stolen base (of home!).
Auburn 0 Batavia 7
The Doubledays managed 10 hits but were shutout. Nice work. Andy Fermin and Yudelmis Hernandez each had a pair with Fermin's double being the only extra base hit of the day.
Misaul Diaz started and went 4.2 allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out five. Juan Hernandez struck out the side in his inning of work.
