Because that's what's beginning with the upcoming series against the Orioles. The fifth starter job for 2011 is very much up in the air, and Mark Rzepcynski, Shawn Hill, and Kyle Drabek begin the tryouts tonight. It would be easy to bring the snark and say this will give young Drabek his first taste of AAA - except for the startling fact that the Orioles have gone 23-15 since handing the reins to Buck Showalter at the beginning of August.
Over that same period, New York has gone 21-18, Tampa has gone 21-17, and Toronto and Boston have gone 19-19.
So yes - the Baltimore Orioles have been the best team in the AL East since the beginning of August.
