Aaron Hill drops his bat as he manages a single to center in the eighth off Rangers reliever Pedro Strop. He also hit a two-run homer off to left off Hunter to give the Jays a 6-0 lead in the third.
Lyle Overbay smiles at Vernon Wells who hands him his cap and glove to prepare for the top of the ninth inning. Overbay was stranded at third but had a good day at the plate with a double, a single, a walk and a run scored in a 2-for-3 afternoon. Escobar and John McDonald, who replaced Hill as a pinch-runner in the eighth, run out to defend the middle of the diamond.
Andres Blanco manages to avoid being tripped up by the bat of Michael Young, who doubled off lefty Brian Tallet to score the game's final run. Jays catcher John Buck stands in front of home plate waiting for a throw.
The right-field scoreboard says it all! The Jays beat the Rangers 7-2 as McDonald high-fives Escobar. DeWayne Wise, Snider and Wells get ready to line up for the celebration.
Snider gets set to high-five Mike McCoy while Wells is about to do the same with Jarrett Hoffpauir, who was just called up from Las Vegas. Fred Lewis is ready to high-five on the pitcher's mound.
Sportsnet's Sam Cosentino conducts a post-game interview with Wells, whose three-run homer in the third inning off Hunter gave the Jays a 4-0 lead. Wells also scored the first run by scampering home on a strikeout-wild pitch to Buck in the second inning. He was 2-for-4 on the afternoon.
