Three of the affiliates took advantage of home cooking and came up with wins that featured a shutout, a near shutout and a walk off.  The one affiliate who was not home wished they never left.

Las Vegas 9 Round Rock 8

Las Vegas, NV
- The 51s gave the Rangers affiliate an expression of sadness by overcoming an 8-3 deficit by rolling a pair of 3s in the eighth and ninth innings for a come from behind, walk-off win.

Batting - Brett Lawrie finished a double short of the cycle as he clubbed his 9th homer of the year to go along with a triple as part of a 3-for-3 afternoon.  He drove in a pair of runs, drew a walk and laid down a sacrifice bunt that eventually resulted in the game's first run.  Fellow Canuck Adam Loewen drew the bases loaded walk to bring home Lawrie with the winning run.  The former Oriole hurler was aboard thrice with a double and two walks.  Jason Lane jump-started the comeback with his first homer of the year for a two-run bomb and also drew a walk.  Manny Mayorson was also on base twice with a double and a base on balls.  Dewayne Wise came off the bench in the ninth to hit a solo home run before Travis Snider tied the game with an RBI double.  Lunchbox also served up the game's first run with a run scoring ground ball.  Each time, Snider plated Mike McCoy, who drew a walk and reached on an error.  David Cooper had a sacrifice fly and was given an intentional walk in the ninth.  Ryan Budde, who Wise pinch-hit for in the ninth, and Dan Perales were hitless in a combined seven turns at bat.

Running - I did have to run to the washroom before writing this.  It all worked out, thanks for asking!

Pitching - Mike MacDonald was taking it to the Express as he sat down the first nine hitters and faced the minimum number of hitters in the fourth.  However, he was just holding on in the fifth.  MacDonald loaded the bases by plunking a man and giving up two singles but limited the damage to a single run thanks to a ground ball double play.   He would not find such sweet freedom in the sixth as Round Rock put up a four spot to take the lead.  In all, MacDonald gave up five runs on eight hitters and plunked a batter over six innings.  He struck out two, did not walk anyone and nine of his 13 outs in play were on the ground.

Lefty Wil Ledezma started the seventh and allowed just one hit while striking out a man in his scoreless frame.  Surprisingly, lefty Sean Henn was shanghaied in his two-thirds of an inning as he gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits and one walk while striking out one batter.  Fellow southpaw Willie Collazo retired the only hitter he faced and stranded a runner for Henn to end the eighth.  Danny Farquhar gave up three singles but no runs in the ninth to win his second game of the year.

Defence - MacDonald and Ledezma had errant pickoff throws and Budde let one get by him behind the plate.  However, the 51s defence also turned three double plays.

New Hampshire 7 Binghamton 1

Manchester, NH
- The Fisher Cats stepped behind the arc and drilled treys in the first two frames before adding one more run in the fourth.  The B-Mets broke the goose egg in the sixth.

Batting - Darin Mastroianni set the tone from the leadoff spot by getting aboard four times on three hits (including a double) and a walk.  Also reaching base four times were Anthony Gose and Travis d'Arnaud.  Gose had three hits, was hit by a pitch and drove in a couple of runs.  As for d'Arnaud, he did his best Brian Jeroloman impersonation by drawing not one, not two, not three but four walks.  Mike McDade had just one hit but it put the F-Cats on the board as he belted a three-run homer, his fifth of 2011.  McDade also reached base on ball four and took one for the team.  Adeiny Hechavarria doubled, singled and drove in a run.  Craig Stansberry had a base hit to give New Hampshire double digits in the hit column.    Ricardo Nanita and John Tolisano were able to get to first base with a walk apiece.  Moises Sierra, despite going 0-for-5, managed to collect an RBI.

Running
- McDade was thrown out at second on a fly ball fielder's choice from center field.

Pitching - Joel Carreno issued five walks in 6 1/3 innings but he got his second win of the year by allowing just one run on two hits and a hit batter.  He struck out eight and six of his nine outs in play stayed on the ground.  Matt Daly allowed just one hit in 1 1/3 scoreless frames and lefty Mike Hinckley retired the only hitter he faced.  Both Daly and Hinckley stranded an inherited runner.  Yohan Pino wrapped things up by issuing just one walk in a scoreless ninth.

Defence - Hechavarria started a 6-4-3 double play.

Dunedin 5 Jupiter 0

Dunedin, FL - The D-Jays dropped the hammer on the Marlins affiliates with two runs in the second and two more in the third before putting the cherry on top with a run in the fifth.

Batting - Brad Glenn had the only extra base hits for Dunedin and they were big ones.  His solo blast, his 11th of the season, put Dunedin on the board in the second and he added an RBI double to open the scoring in the third.  Justin Jackson led the hit parade with three singles and Sean Ochinko had two while driving in a run.  Ivan Contreras had a run scoring single while Jon "Long Tall" Talley and Brad McElroy also made hit into the hit column.  Kevin Ahrens and Joe Bowen, the protector of the pentagon plate, were hitless but drew a pair of walks each.  Chris Hopkins had a tough day at the dish, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

Running
- Jackson was Olmos picked off at first base.  Actually, he was!  Get it?

Pitching - Deck McGuire floored the Hammerheads with seven sterling innings of shutout ball.  The 2010 first round pick allowed just two hits, walked nobody and struck out six to improve to 3-2 and lower his ERA to 2.32.  McGuire retired the first 11 hitters he faced and the last eight hitters in a row.  As for the outs in play, there were three ground outs, four fly outs, one line out and a whopping seven pop ups to the middle infield, six of them to Jackson at short.  Out of the bullpen, Chris Malone pitched a clean eighth and struck out one and lefty Matt Wright gave up two hits in the ninth but kept Jupiter off the scoreboard with a K and two ground ball outs.

Defence - No screw-ups here!

South Bend 7 Lansing 2

South Bend, IN - The Diamondbacks affiliate scored six in the second inning and kicked an extra point in the fourth.  The Lugnut runs also came in inning number four.

Batting - Marcus Knecht, Kevin Nolan and Michael Crouse had two hits apiece with Nolan knocking in a run.  The only extra-base hit came from Jake Marisnick, who had an RBI double.  K.C. Hobson had the other hit.  Markus Brisker, Carlos Perez, Bryson Namba and Gustavo Pierre were a combined 0-for-15 in the top two and bottom spots of the batting order.  No Lugnut was in the mood to take a stroll on the basepaths.

Running - Nolan was thrown out at the plate.

Pitching - Casey Lawrence had a good first inning.  The second inning was another story.  A very sad one, actually.   After giving up a single in the first, he was burned for six runs in the second but five of those runs were unearned.  Those runs came on seven hits and a walk but he induced five of his seven outs in play on the ground.  Misual Diaz supplied three innings of relief and gave up a solo home run among his four hits while posting a K-BB total of 4-1.  Diaz also got a couple of ground ball outs.  Marcus Walden and Scott Gracey were superb coming out of the pen as they each struck out a pair in their outings.  Walden pitched two scoreless frames and Gracey pitched one.  Their other outs came on the ground.

Defence - Hobson threw one away at first and Nolan did likewise at second.  Perez had a passed ball and was unsuccessful trying to throw out a runner stealing second.  Knecht threw out a runner at second from left field and Pierre started a 6-3 double play.
