Loewen in the Win (Column)

On a night when all eyes were turned toward an entirely different set of potential future major leaguers, the farm system had a light schedule, and went 1-1. Adam Loewen can't earn wins anymore, no longer being a pitcher, but if hitter wins were a thing he would have earned one. Click through to find out how!

Las Vegas 4 at Fresno 3

Boy, Las Vegas' offense is sure scuffling since losing Brett Lawrie, huh? They're down to scoring just four or five runs per game. Fortunately, that was enough on this evening as Mike MacDonald hurled a quality start, and Wil Ledezma and Dan Farquhar combined to shut the Grizzlies out over the final three innings. MacDonald, as is his tendency, got lots of ground ball outs - 10, to be specific, against just three fly outs.

Adam Loewen provided the punch, going deep twice, bringing him up to 10 on the season. Despite Loewen's success at AAA, though, he still has big strikeout problems - 59 now in 53 games after two more tonight.

Because these are the guys you're interested in: Travis Snider doubled, walked and K'ed, David Cooper singled, walked twice and K'ed, and Eric Thames singled, walked and K'ed twice, all three in five trips.

New Hampshire - scheduled day off

Dunedin 4 at Clearwater 8

Dunedin's bats did their best Las Vegas impression, but the Clearwater Threshers didn't follow suit, scoring eight runs, six off starter Ryan Tepera, to defeat the D-Jays. Tepera didn't make it out of the fifth inning and sports a 4.82 ERA on the year.

Kenny Wilson did his job at the top of the order, reaching base thrice, stealing a base (and getting caught once) and scoring two runs, but Kevin Ahrens and Brad Glenn, batting 2nd and 4th, combined for 7 strikeouts to prevent any sort of extended rallies from developing. Jon Talley hit a solo homer, while Sean Ochinko and Kevin Nolan each had two hits.

Lansing - scheduled day off

DSL Braves 10 at DSL Jays 3

Gabriel Cenas doubled and walked. In an extremely small sample, he's hitting a weird .190/.393/.238.

Three Stars!
3. Mike MacDonald - QS
2. Kenny Wilson - 2-3, BB, SB, 2 Rs
1. Adam Loewen - 2-5, 2 HRs
