Norris Stomps Reading and the Fightin Phills

The Jays affiliates were 3-3 today, with the wins coming from Buffalo, New Hampshire and Dunedin.  The losses came from the lower affiliates in Lansing, Vancouver, and Bluefield.  Daniel Norris had a fantastic outing for New Hampshire, Jon Berti had a bunch of hits while adding to his stolen base total, and Sean Nolin was solid for Buffalo.

Buffalo 2 – Norfolk  1

Buffalo faced a rehabbing Ubaldo Jimenez and was able to score one run off of him.  They scored a run off a bunch of singles in the 6th which lead to Kevin Pillar scoring.  The second run came when Johnathan Diaz scored on an Adron Chambers sacrifice fly.

Sean Nolin got the start and lasted 5 innings giving up one unearned run.  Mike Zagurski followed up with 2 scoreless innings and got the win improving his record to 4-1.

 

Reading 1 – New Hampshire 7

Daniel Norris was fantastic pitching 6.2 innings, allowing one earned run on 5 hits, with no walks, and 8 strikeouts.

The Fisher Cats scored 6 runs in the third, off of a bunch of singles and doubles.  Jon Berti had 3 hits, swiped his 36th stolen base and scored a run as well.

 

Palm Beach 4 – Dunedin 5

Ben White had a quality start, allowing 2 earned runs over 6 innings.  Justin Jackson followed up with 2 innings allowing 2 earned runs, and Wil Browning closed the game out with a scoreless 9th inning.

Nick Baligod, Pierce Rankin, and Ian Parmley each had 2 hits.   Pierce had 2 doubles, and 2 walks, to go along with 2 RBI.

 

Lansing 3 – Great Lakes 4

Chase De Jong put together a fantastic outing of 5IP 3H 0ER 0BB 5 SO.  Jimmy Cordero gave up 2 runs in the 6th, and Phil Kish gave up 2 runs including the game winning run in the bottom of the 9th.

DJ Davis doubled home two runs in the 4th inning, and Daniel Klein doubled home Jason Leblebijian in the 5th.

 

Vancouver 2 – Boise 3

Daniel Lietz allowed 3 runs over 3.1 innings pitched.  But the remaining relievers didn’t allow a run, which included appearances from Adaric Kelly, Alberto Tirado, Justin Shafer, and Michael Kraft.

Max Pentecost had a single in the 6th which scored Franklin Barreto.  Max scored later in the 6th on a Tim Locastro sacrifice fly.

Bluefield 6 – Burlington 9

Bluefield’s pitching continued to struggle as they allowed 9 runs today.  Starter Joey Aquino allowed 4 earned over 5.2 innings, Tim Mayza allowed 3 earned over 1/3 of an inning, and Conor Fisk allowed 2 over 1.2 innings pitched.

Rowdy Tellez continued to hit well, as he had another 2 hits which brings his line to 442/457/581 over his last 10 games.  Gabriel  Cenas contributed offensively as well, going 2-4 with 2 RBI and a walk.
