Matt Boyd almost pitched a complete game shutout, he left in the ninth with a three hitter. New Hampshire won 1-0, a triple from Shane Opitz was the big hit. Daniel Norris pitched in and out of trouble while conceding three runs. Clayton Richard shut down the Bisons. Justin Shafer blew a three run lead and Dunedin lost in the ninth. Shane Dawson had a bad start for Lansing.
Buffalo 0 Indianapolis 3
Daniel Norris made the start and as I generally say he had a "Norrisy" start. Namely he struck out eight hitters in seven innings while giving up three runs and also showing periods of dominance. In the first inning Norris was nibbled to death, a lead off walk was followed by two bunt singles. leaving the bases loaded with no outs. Norris got a pop out and a strikeout and then struck-out Tony Sanchez. But the ball got away, Sanchez made it to first and a run scored. In the second Pedro Florimon took Norris deep. After the home run Norris faced just two hitters over the minimum through six inning. Those two hitters doubled to leave off innings but Norris stranded both. In the seventh Florimon doubled off Norris and that was followed by another double. Norris gave up seven hits, two were bunt singles and five were extra base hits, that's an unusual profile. Norris' line was 7 7 3 3 1 8. He threw 97 pitches, 69 for strikes.
Former major leaguer, Clayton Richard kept the Bisons off the board though 7.2 innings. Andy Burns, Dalton Pompey and Sean Ochinko had two hits each.
Bowie 0 New Hampshire 1
Matt Boyd dominated Bowie. He faced the minimum number of hitters through seven innings and he took a two hitter into the ninth inning with a chance for a complete game. with one out Boyd gave up a line drive single and that was it for Boyd. Blake McFarland finished up.
The only run came in the third inning. Shane Opitz tripled with one out and scored on an error. That error was originally scored a hit off the bat of Jorge Flores but changed to an error after the game. The Fisher Cats had five hits in the game.
Clearwater 6 Dunedin 5
Clearwater scored twice before the Jays came to bat. But the Jays battled back to take a 5-2 lead to the ninth. Justin Shafer came on and blew up good. He didn't get an out and was pulled after he let the Phillies tie the game. Alberto Tirado came on and threw away the ball on a play at first and that let the winning run score. Luis Santos pitched well after the first, he went six innings with just the two first innings runs on his record. Chad Girodo shut down the Phillies in the seventh and eighth.
The Jays scored three in the second, Matt Dean tripled, Mitch Nay doubled and Derrick Loveless homered. Dickie Thon tripled in two runs in the fifth. Roemen Fields and Nay had two hits each.
Burlington 6 Lansing 3
Shane Dawson has been Lansing's best reliable starter but on Wednesday he was rocked for six runs in three innings. Rocked might be an exaggeration, five of the six hits he allowed in the third were ground balls, and three of them were infield hits. Add in a couple of errors and Dawson was done. Dusty Isaacs and Tim Mayza each pitched three innings in relief.
DJ Davis drove in Ryan McBroom with the first run. An Anthony Alford sac fly drove in drove in Chris Carlson with the second run in the fifth. Rowdy Tellez drove in the third run with a groundout in the seventh. Tim Locastro led the Lugnuts hitters with three hits.
