Seven games on the schedule on Wednesday, the affiliates won four and lost three. KC Hobson homered behind good pitching from Joel Pineiro in the New Hampshire win. Dunedin split a double header with no hitting in a game one loss and lots of hits in the game two win. Bluefield scored late for a walk off win. Jacob Brentz had a good start. The GCL Jays won a pitching duel 1-0, just like the big club.

Daniel Norris didn't like facing Russ Canzler and he lost, despite nine punch-outs. Vancouver had bad defense and bad baserunning in their loss. lansing are on their all star break.

Lehigh Valley 5 Buffalo 4

Daniel Norris met his nemesis and his name is Russ Canzler. In the second inning Canzler doubled and later stole home to put the Pigs up 1-0. Then in the fourth Norris loaded the bases with one out. He struck out one hitter to make it two outs but then Canzler came up and tripled to clear the bases and make it 4-0. Norris went six innings and racked up nine K's. He only walked one but he did give up eight hits and four runs. In the post game report Norris was a little frustrated to be working from behind in the count too much for his liking.

The Bisons were down 5-0 and then scored all their runs in the eighth inning. Two came on an error. The Bisons had just seven hits and five of them came from Caleb Gindl with two and Alex Hassan with three. Devon Travis was 0-3 with a walk and is hitting .143 in AAA. This probably means he will hit for the Jays as these things usually reverse.

Portland 1 New Hampshire 3

New Hampshire trailed 1-0 into the seventh, Joel Pineiro had another excellent start, he pitched 7 innings plus, and gave up one run on eight hits. Blake McFarland came on in the eighth with the tying run on third and no one out. McFarland struck out the side, then struck out two in a 1-2-3 ninth. McFarland has a straight over the top delivery and features an average fastball and a 12-6 curveball. None of his pitches stand out but his results are excellent. He should get a look in AAA before the end of the season.

KC Hobson hit a two run home run in the seventh to give New Hampshire a 2-1 lead. Shane Opitz singled in Jon Berti in the eighth to make it 3-1.

Dunedin 1 Tampa 5 - Game 1

The Jays had just 4 hits, all singles. Luis Santos started and pitched 4.2 innings. He was charged with 5 runs on 8 hits.

Dunedin 7 Tampa 5 - Game 2

The first four hitters reached, Roemen Fields walked, Dickie Thon doubled, JD Davis singled in a run, LB Dantzler singled in another. A ground ball and a sac fly made it 4-0. The Jays tacked on single runs in each of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings. Dawel Lugo and Martin Medina each had two hits.

Jeremy Gabryszwski started and went five innings and gave up 4 runs. Justin Shafer and Wil Browning pitched an inning each in relief.

Lansing - All star break

Vancouver 3 Tri-City 6

Four errors by the Canadians led to three unearned runs, the margin of defeat. Evan Smith pitched into the fifth and was partially responsible for fi.ve runs, two were unearned. He only notched one K.

Some poor baserunning also cost the Canadians. In the second inning Kevin Garcia doubled in Christian Vazquez but he was thrown out at third base for the third out. In the eighth Juan Kelly singled in Gabriel Cenas but Earl Burl was thrown out at home to end the inning. In the ninth Juan Tejada singled in a run leaving runners at first and third with one out. But Tejada was picked off for the second out.

Elizabethton 4 Bluefield 5

a walk off win for the jays thanks to two runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth to erase a 5-1 deficit. In the eighth, following a walk and a hit batter, Christian Williams and Matt Morgan each singled in runs. In the ninth Rodrigo Orozco singled, moved up on a sacrifice, and was brought home when Carl Wise singled. The Elizabethton pitcher then lost the zone and walked three with Williams getting the game winning RBI on the walk. Williams was 2-4 with 2 RBI and the walk. Orozco was3-5 and Wise and Deiferson Barreto each had two hits.

Jaoc Brentz started and was excellent, five shutout innings, three hits, no walks and four K's. Grayson Huffman was hit around, in his inning he gave up some loud hits and four runs. Maybe it was rust?

GCL Jays 1 GCL Yankees 0

Just five hits for the Jays and three for the Yankees. A trio of pitchers held down the Yankees. Denis Diaz went 3.2, Mike Estevez 2.1 and Ryan Cook 3 innings.

The Jays only run came in the third inning. Kalik May doubled to lead off the inning and later scored on a sac fly. Edward Olivares led the offense with two hits.
