The affiliates won three and lost four on Friday. A late-inning meltdown in Bluefield tipped the scales the other way. Vancouver's game in Spokane was smoked out due to forest fires in the area.

Buffalo, NY - Scott Copeland (10-4, 2.43) got a whole lot of offence he didn't really need. He spun seven shutout innings of four-hit ball, striking out three and getting 13 of his 15 outs in play on the ground. He finished with a Game Score of 72. Chad Jenkins took care of the final two innings, walking one and whiffing three against the Nationals affiliate.
The Bisons put three up on the board in the first inning on an Andy Burns single and a two-run knock by Ty Kelly. Burns brought home another run in the second with a single. They resumed scoring in the fourth on an Alex Hassan RBI double. Josh Thole and Munenori Kawasaki drove in runs in the fifth with a double and a single respectively. Jonathan Diaz doubled home a Thole double in the sixth and Dalton Pompey sent Diaz home with a single. Pompey, Burns, Hassan and Thole all had three-hit games. Kawasaki, Kelly and Diaz had two apiece with Diaz getting hit by a pitch. Caleb Gindl walked but Chris Heisey was 0-for-5.

Manchester, NH - Scott Barnes (2-5, 5.07) was smacked around for six runs on 12 hits by the Mets, only lasted 4-2/3 innings. One of the hits was a home run but his K-BB total was 5-0 and his GO/FO numbers were 4-1. Cory Burns coughed up the other three runs on four hits and two walks with just one strikeout. Gregory Infante cleaned up with two perfect innings.
Derrick Chung drove in three runs with a sacrifice fly in the fourth and a two-run double in the ninth. Matt Newman doubled home a run in the fourth and Roemon Fields had RBI single in the sixth. Melky Mesa had three hits, including a double, and also drew a walk. Ryan Schimpf and Jorge Flores walked twice. K.C. Hobson doubled while Dwight Smith Jr. and Shane Opitz singled. Fields was credited with two assists from left field by throwing out runners at home and second base.
Lakeland 4 Dunedin 0
Lakeland, FL - The Tigers affiliate got the winning run against Brad Allen (1-4, 4.23) in the third with three straight singles. He ended his four-inning outing by retiring the last six in a row. Allen allowed four hits and one walk while striking out three. Lendy Castillo got through the fifth but could not get any of the three hitters he faced in the sixth. The former Chicago Cub was charged with two runs on four hits while waking one and striking out one. Matt Dermody allowed one inherited run to score and gave up one of his own on two hits and a walk over two frames while whiffing one. Wil Browning worked a scoreless eighth.
Christian Lopes had two hits and a walk and Mike Reeves had the other hit for Dunedin. Andy Fermin drew a walk. Ian Parmley and L.B. Dantzler were 0-for-4. Derrick Loveless, Dickie Joe Thon, Jason Leblebijian and Boomer Collins were hitless in their three at-bats.

Lansing, MI - Lansing raced out to a early 4-0 lead and held on for the win. The Lugnuts got to the Indians affiliate for a run in the first when Chris Carlson led off with a double and was singled home by Richard Urena just two batters in. They added to their lead in the third on a D.J. Davis RBI double and run-scoring singles by Ryan McBroom and David Harris. Carlson had three hits while Davis, McBroom and Josh Almonte had two apiece. Danny Jansen took one for the team but Austin Davis was 0-for-4 and Alex Maldonado was 0-for-3.
Chase Mallard (6-5, 5.07) pitched 6-2/3 innings of three-run ball, scattering eight hits and a walk but striking out two. Colton Turner stranded a runner for Mallard and surrendered just one hit over 2-/13 innings. He struck out two to get his first save of the year.
Kingsport 3 Bluefield 2
Bluefield, WV - A single, an error and a two-run triple in the ninth by the Mets gave them the come-from-behind victory. Alberto Guzman (3-4) got the loss by giving up the triple that came after an Aaron Attaway error at short. Guzman struck out two in his two innings of work. Miguel Burgos yielded a run on four hits and three walks while whiffing five over four innings. Dan Lietz worked three shutout frames despite a hit and two walks.
Rodrigo Orozco doubled home the first Bluefield run in the third and a throwing error by the pitcher on a sacrifice bunt by Freddy Rodriguez scored a D.J. McKnight single in the fourth to give the Jays a 2-1 lead. Christian Williams was on base three times with two hits and a walk. Deiferson Barreto also had a base hit.
GCL Phillies 8 GCL Blue Jays 4
Clearwater, FL - Denis Diaz (4-1, 3.68) was destroyed to the tune of five hits and five walks, leading to five runs over 2-2/3 innings with just one strikeout. Kelyn Jose stranded the bases loaded in the third but eventually allowed three runs on three hits, a walk and a hit by pitch with two K's over 2-1/3 innings. Gunner Eastman shot down the Phils in order in the sixth and Nate Abel walked one and whiffed two in the seventh. Juan Nunez finished up with a one-strikeout eighth.
The Jays did nothing for the first eight innings before scoring all four of their runs in the ninth. They came on RBI singles by Owen Spiwak and Levi Scott sandwiched a wild pitch and a Lance Jones groundout. Scott and Cliff Brantley had two-hit games. Nash Knight also put one in the hit and walk columns. Jones walked twice while Reggie Pruitt and Roberto Lucido walked once.
DSL Blue Jays 14 DSL Reds 6
Boca Chica, DR - How do you turn a nail-biter into a laugher? Score eight runs in the ninth. That's what the Jays did to pull away from the Reds in this one. Norberto Obeso drove in three runs with two doubles and a single while Sterling Guzman drove in four with a single and a bases-clearing double. Kevin Vicuna knocked home a pair with a single and a hit by pitch. Francisco Rodriguez and Jesus Navarro had RBI walks and Manuel Herazo took one for the team with the bases loaded. The Jays swiped nine bases in this one with Navarro and Antony Fuentes taking two apiece.
Orlando Pascual gave up a run over the first two innings on four hits but struck out a pair. Dany Jimenez (1-0) pitched four frames of one-run ball on two hits and two walks but racked up four K's. Jose Acosta was accosted for three runs on three hits and a walk to go along with two strikeouts in 1-2/3 innings. Ruben Ventura stranded a runner and struck out two of the four hitters he faced for his first save.
