The Lansing Lugnuts could not take advantage of home field and their season came to a disappointing end.

West Michigan 14 Lansing 5

Lansing, MI - The Lansing Lugnuts hopes of reaching the Midwest League final were demolished by the Tigers affiliate. Shane Dawson (1-1, 6.55) was given three leads to work with but could not hold any of them as he was slammed for six runs (five earned, including a home run) on 11 hits over five innings. He struck out six and induced five groundball outs. Colton Turner was torched for five more runs on three hits and two walks in 1-2/3 innings with one strikeout. Jose Fernandez allowed an inherited runner to score and one of his own on four hits but he struck out one in 1-1/3 innings. Chase Mallard could not stem the tide either as he was mashed for two more runs on four hits in the ninth.

The Lugnuts got the first run of the game in their first at-bat when Ryan McBroom had an RBI fielder's choice to bring in a Richard Urena double. McBroom would move up to second on a D.J. Davis single but was picked off at second to end the inning. The Lugnuts would grab the lead again in the third on a two-run home run by Chris Carlson, scoring a Gunnar Heidt double. Their final lead came in the fourth when Justin Atkinson doubled home a base hit by Davis, who also brought in the final run in the sixth with a groundout to score a McBroom triple. McBroom, Davis and Atkinson all had two-hit games and Danny Jansen collected a hit. Jason Leblebijian drew a walk but David Harris struck out three times in four at-bats.
