Lansing had lost four games in a row and seven in a row at home. They turned to emergency starter Juliandry Higuera who pitched well to get the win and halt the slide. Jon Harris also pitched well on Sunday, his season has been one of good start, bad start. Harris and New Hampshire were the other winners on Sunday. Buffalo, Bluefield and Vancouver all lost while Dunedin were rained out. Kacy Clemens had three hits out of a total of five Vancouver hits. He had two doubles and a home run.

Buffalo

The best pitching performance of the weekend was by Luis Santos who went seven innings with five hits allowed. He conceded one run and picked up seven strikeouts. Chris Rowley made his first start post major league. It was a typical Rowley start, seven innings, eight hits, one walk, three strikeouts. He had given up two runs in the seventh when he made an error that led to two more runs, both unearned, and a loss for Rowley.

Jason Leblebijian had four hits in Saturdays game including a double and triple. Rowdy Tellez had two hits on Sunday but is still looking for that home run. Danny Jansen had two "oh fers" this weekend. We can't discount that he could be getting tired, this is the most he has played in a pro season. Michael Saunders continues to hit well.

New Hampshire

As usual the Fisher Cats were able to throw three strong starting pitchers over the weekend. Conner Greene kicked it off and pitched well despite being charged with four runs. Through six innings Greene had just given up one run. A home run led off the seventh followed by a single and a walk. Greene was pulled but the bullpen allowed the other two runners to score. Four runs doesn't look great on Greene's box score but it was better than that. Ryan Borucki was the star of the weekend. Borucki only gave up three hits over seven innings. He didn't walk anyone and punched out seven hitters. Jon Harris also went seven innings on Sunday. He allowed a first inning run on two hits then he retired 15 or 16 in a row. The "or" is because out 16 was a strikeout but the runner reached on a wild pitch. A single and a double steal led to the second run off Harris. Overall it was an excellent start with eight strikeouts. It was another good start by Harris in his Jekyll and Hyde season. Which is the real Jon Harris? We may not know until 2018.

New Hampshire's bats did OK but they were not lighting it up. Jonathan Davis had a 3-4 game on Friday followed by two 1-2 games. Reece McGuire was 2-4 on Friday including a home run. Emilio Guerrero and Gunnar Heidt each had 2-4 games with a triple.

Dunedin

Dunedin lost two games with one rain-out. The hitters were the bright spot. Vlad Jr. was 0-4 on Friday then 3-4 with his fifth home run on Saturday. Bo Bichette went 1-3 and 2-3 including his fifth home run. Connor Panas hit two home runs to give him 16 for the season. Edward Olivares had three hits over two games as he acclimates to high A.

Lansing

Lansing finally won a game on Sunday in part due to emergency starter Juliandry Higuera. Higuera went five innings in his first start of the year. The only run he conceded was unearned. Yennsy Diaz did allow four runs in seven innings on Saturday but he did strike out nine.

On the hitting side Nash Knight had a 5-6 game on Saturday and three more hits in the other two games. Kevin Vicuna had five hits over three games, his infield partner Yeltsin Gudino had four hits in two. David Jacob had a pair of two hit games.

Vancouver

The C's only won one game on the weekend. Dany Jimenez couldn't get out of the first inning while Jose Espada was hit around. Wilfri Aleton pitched well in the game they won.

Kacy Clemens had a big game in a losing cause on Sunday, 3-4 with two doubles and his fourth home run. Riley Adams hit his third home run on Saturday and Samad Taylor had a 2-4 game Sunday to keep his average at .315.

Bluefield

The Jays are the hottest team right now. They have a very distributed offense. Over the weekend they had seven multi hit games and six different players were responsible. Yorman Rodriguez was the one hitter with two multi hit games. The Jays can throw out a lineup with all nine hitters hitting over .270 and four over .300.

Randy Pondler went six innings on Friday, he allowed two runs on six hits with seven K's. Elio Silva and Alvaro Galindo each pitched five innings, Galindo shut out the opposition, Silva allowed one run.

GCL Blue Jays

The Jays were in a battle with the Phillies for a playoff spot. The two teams have faced off five times in August with the Phillies winning all five games. Philly now has a three game lead with six games left to play. On Friday the Jays out-hit the Phillies 11-4 but lost. Davis Schneider and Luis De Los Santos each had three hits. Matthew Gunter pitched six shutout innings.

The Jays were outhit 9-4 on Saturday and out scored 5-1.
