Lansing racked up 13 runs on 14 hits and cruised. Every starter had a hit. Buffalo won 5-2 with Reece McGuire homering and Ryan Borucki pitching well. New Hampshire were walked off, literally, even though Vlad had three hits. Dunedin played two and lost both by 4-3 scores.
Buffalo won 5-2 behind a strong start from Ryan Borucki. Borucki's line was 6 5 1 1 1 7. Buffalo have only played eleven games and they have been split into a stop, start mix since the season started. Its only now that they are playing regular games. Because of that it is hard to make definitive statements about players. Dalton Pompey has played nine games between Dunedin and Buffalo and he has at least one hit in all nine. He has played five games for the Bisons, with three of those being multi hit games. Anthony Alford is off to a slower start but on Wednesday he had two hits and a walk.
Reece McGuire had two hits with a big two run home run putting Buffalo ahead for good. Tim Lopes also deserves a mention, two more hits keeps his batting average high at .452. Lopes has just four strikeouts in his 27 at-bats and is still 23 years old. Between Lopes and Cavan Biggio the Jays have a couple of under the radar second base prospects.
New Hampshire went down 4-1, scored three runs in the last two innings to tie the game but then Zach Jackson had a tough time in the bottom of the ninth and took the loss. Jackson gave up a lead off double then added a wild pitch. He got two outs but then intentionally walked two hitters before unintentionally walking in the winning run.
Vlad Jr. was 3-4 with three RBI's. Bo Bichette was 2-5 with a double. Cavan Biggio was hitless but walked three times. Patrick Cantwell hit his first home run of the season.
Dunedin lost two games both with a 4-3 score. Each team had seven hits in both games. Patrick Murphy started game one and allowed three runs in six innings, six hits, three walks. Connor Eller came on for the seventh, walked the lead off hitter and took the loss on a single. Bradley Jones hit his third homer. Nash Knight, Josh Palacios and DJ Davis had two hits each.
In game two Josh DeGraaf conceded three runs in the first inning and Dunedin could never get back on even terms. DeGraaf did strikeout seven over five innings but also allowed seven hits. Logan Warmoth, Brad Jones and Alberto Mineo each had two hits. DJ Davis is hitting .343 in his third go-around in Dunedin although his K rate is still high.
Lansing scored early and often, jumping out to a 10-0 lead, before finally winning 13-2. Kevin Smith had three doubles. He is playing much better than his 2017. Two hits were registered by Samad Taylor, Cullen Large and Kevin Vicuna. Chavez Young had one hit but walked twice. Reggie Pruitt had one hit but was hit by a pitch and immediately removed for precautionary reasons.
Zach Logue went six innings and gave up one run on six hits. His ERA is down to 2.78.
