Davis Is Dynamite

The #BlueJays affiliates won seven of nine Tuesday night. A doubleheader split and a loss in the Dominican were the only setbacks.

Buffalo 3 Pawtucket 1

Anthony Alford's two-run home run in the fifth was the difference in this one. Alford and Reese McGuire had two hits apiece but Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was the hit leader with three as he had a double and an RBI. Roemon Fields was 1-for-5 and stole his 14th base.

Sean Reid-Foley pitched 6-2/3 innings and gave up one run on six hits and two walks. His strikeout total was eight, one better than his groundoutrate. Jake Fishman earned the hold with 1-1/3 shutout innings and one strikeout. Justin Shafer surrendered a hit and whiffed one in the ninth for his sixth save.


New Hampshire 10 Portland 3

Jonathan Davis hit for the cycle and performances like that could see him cycle all the way to Buffalo sooner than later. That was the first cycle in Fisher Cats history as Davis was 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. Jon Berti and Juan Kelly also had home runs. Connor Panas had two hits, two RBI and and a stolen base. Bo Bichette was 0-for-4 with a sacrifice fly.

Josh DeGraaf got the win by pitching five innings of one-run ball on five hits and a walk while striking out five. Zach Jackson and Nick Hartman split the last four innings, giving up a run a piece.


Dunedin 5 Florida 1

Eduard Pinto, Kevin Smith, Alberto Mineo and Ivan Castillo all had two hits apiece with Mineo homering and drawing a walk and Castillo stealing a base. Kacy Clemens had a hit and two walks. Josh Palacios singled but Riley Adams was 0-for-4 with a walk.

Zach Logue lasted six innings and yielded just one run on five hits, three walks  and a hit by pitch while striking out four. William Ouellette struck out two over two shutout frames and Jonathan Cheshire put up a zero in the ninth.


Lansing 8 Lake County 7

The Lugnuts were up 8-1 but were able to hold on for the win. Chavez Young was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a run batted in. Brock Lundquist had two hits that included an extra-bagger. Ryan Gold was 2-for-2 with a plunk and a sacrifice fly while Norberto Obeso singled, walked twice and plated a run. Samad Taylor was 0-for-3 with a walk but stole his 19th base. Kevin Vicuna was 1-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI.

Matt Gunter got the win with five innings of one-run ball on two hits and a walk while whiffing two. Emerson Jimenez was jolted for a home run among five in total but four were uneanred in 1-2/3 innings. Claudio Custodio gave a up a solo dinger over 2-1/3 innings but collected the save.


Vancouver 7 Tri-City 1

McGregory Contreras hit a grand slam and added a double to give the C's their first home victory of 2018. Sterling Guzman and Tanner Kirwer also had a pair of hits. Griffin Conine was 0-for-4 with a walk in his C's home debut..

Joey Murray, Sean Wymer and Will McAffer kept the Dust Devils at bay with two scoreless innings. Justin Watts gave up the lone run in the seventh. Marcus Reyes finished up with two shutout frames. You can find a full recap right here.



Bluefield 3 Princeton 2 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

Dominic Abbadessa had three hits and Davis Schneider had two but Luis De Los Santos smacked a home run that snapped a 1-1 tie in the second.

Alvaro Galindo allowed a run over 3-1/3 innings on four hits and two walks but collected six K's. Mike Pascoe got the win by stranding two runners and pitching 1-2/3 scoreless innings of one-hit, one-strikeout ball. Sean Rackoski overcame a hit and a walk in the ninth for the save.


Princeton 1 Bluefield 0 (Game 2- 7 Innings)

A first-inning home run resulted in Eric Pardinho taking the loss. The Brazilian gave up just two hits and struck out five over four innings. Adams Cuevas struck out the side in the fifth. Joey Pulido worked a clean sixth and Brad Wilson struck out two in a perfect seventh.

Hagen Danner turned in the only two-hit game for Bluefield. D.J. Daniels walked twice while Luis De Los Santos singled and walked.


GCL Blue Jays 7 GCL Yankees East 1

Rafael Lantigua and Hector Guerrero both tripled and doubled and Aldo Ovando went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Jays attack. Cal Stevenson doubled, walked and drove in a run.

Emanuel Vizcaino pitched four shutout innings and struck out three to offset three hits and two walks. Ryan Thurston pitched a shutout fifth with a strikeout for the win. Gage Burland struck out in his inning of work.


DSL Reds 6 DSL Blue Jays 4

Rainer Nunez tripled and doubled and Jhon Solarte was 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Miguel Hiraldo was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI.

Santos Moreno surrendered three runs in four innings on six hits but did strike out five in taking the loss. Jhoan Dominguez was dinged for two runs in 2-2/3 innings and William Gonzalez gave up an unearned marker over 1-1/3 innings.
