Series Schedule / Probable Starters

Tuesday at 9:45 pm ET - Trent Thornton vs. Nick Vincent
Wednesday at 3:45 pm ET - Edwin Jackson vs. TBA

The Giants will use the opener strategy for the first time this year with Nick Vincent. Tyler Beede-the former unsigned Blue Jays 2011 first rounder-and Derek Holland are expected to be next in line according to this preview. Edwin Jackson is expected to make his Jays debut Wednesday after being acquired from Oakland for cash. San Francisco is in the basement of the NL West at 17-23 but they swept the Jays in Toronto during the two-game Kevin Pillar lovefest. Speaking of Superman, he is not having a super season with the bat as he is currently slashing .232/.263/.416 with six home runs, 21 runs batted in and four stolen bases. Yangervis Solarte is faring worse by hitting just .205 with a .562 OPS. Rule 5 pick Travis Bergen is 2-0 with a 5.14 earned run average with a 12-6 K/BB ratio in 14 innings.

The Jays lost two of three to the Chicago White Sox over the weekend to give them 24 losses in their first 40 games. They're only 2-1/2 games out of last in the AL East. The Toronto Sun looks back at the first quarter of this season.
