Bauxite Mike Green is a former contributor to these minor league updates. He must have been feeling the itch today as he summarised the afternoon. Here it is: The affiliates are 3-0 so far (edit 4-0) and Vancouver has a 1 run lead in the middle innings (edit: they won in extras). Carl Edwards Jr. got the win with a scoreless 7th inning for the Bisons. SWR threw 5 shutout innings with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. Samad Taylor homered among his 3 hits and Otto Lopez doubled twice and walked to lead the Fisher Cat offence. Thanks Mike.
Cameron Eden had the walk off hit for the C's, his fourth hit of the day. He also drove in the tying run in the ninth.
Rochester 1 Buffalo 2
Somerset 0 New Hampshire 6
Spokane 6 Vancouver 7 - 11 innings
Bradenton 3 Dunedin 6
This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
The Bisons had to face Stephen Strasburg who was on a rehab assignment. He shut the Bisons down over 4.2 innings. The Bisons scored two runs off the bullpen, Dilson Herrera drove in both runs.
The Bisons had six hits, all singles. Herrera and Logan Warmoth each had two hits.
It was a bullpen day. Kirby Snead started and pitched two innings. Jackson McClelland followed and threw three innings. He gave up the only run. Carl Edwards pitched an inning and picked up the win. Tayler Saucedo also threw a scoreless inning to keep his ERA at zero.
Simeon Woods Richardson threw five shutout innings. Four hits allowed with seven K's. Three relievers finished up.
Samad Taylor led the offense with a two run home run and two other hits. He also scored three runs. Otto Lopez was 2-3 to stay hot. Both hits were doubles. Gabriel Moreno was 1-3.
The C's took a 5-4 lead to the ninth. Hagen Danner has been pitching well so far but he was touched up for two runs to make it a 6-5 deficit. Tanner Kirwer evened the game in the bottom of the ninth. He singled, stole second and scored on a single by Cameron Eden. Danner pitched a scoreless tenth, Parker Caracci pitched the eleventh and got the win. Paxton Schultz started and gave up three runs in four innings.
Cameron Eden has been hitting well recently. He was 4-6 in this game, including the game winning single in the eleventh. Ronny Brito had two hits including his first home run of the season.
Dunedin bounced back from being held hitless with a win.
Orelvis Martinez and Mack Mueller had two hits each. Justin Ammons drove in two runs with a 1-4.
Rafael Ohashi was not as good in his second start. He just pitched two innings allowing three runs on two hits and five walks. Fair to say his command was off. William Gaston pitched three shutout innings, Gabriel Ponce two, and Roither Hernandez two. Hernandez keep his ERA at zero.
Ryan Sloniger ended the game by picking off a runner at first base.
Third Star - Simeon Woods Richardson
Second Star - Samad Taylor
First Star - Cameron Eden
