Zac Cook went deep for Dunedin, one of his three hits leading the Jays to the win. Buffalo won in extras as Breyvic Valera hit a tenth inning home run. New Hampshire had to face a top pitching prospect, it didn't go well. And Vancouver lost late, thanks in part to an error.
Buffalo 5 Syracuse 3 - 10 innings
New Hampshire 0 Bowie 10
Vancouver 3 Eugene 4
Dunedin 7 St Lucie 5
This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
In extra innings Cullen Large, the runner on second, stole third, then scored on a wild pitch by former Jay Yennsy Diaz. Breyvic Valera followed later with a two run home run.
The Bisons bullpen could not hold a 2-0 lead, as Curtis Taylor and Bryan Baker each conceded a run. Connor Overton had the strong start, five shutout innings. Of note, the four pitchers used by Buffalo in the first nine innings, Overton, Taylor, Baker and Kirby Snead all have ERA's in the one's. The highest is 1.30.
The New Hampshire hitters faced a big test on Saturday. They faced Grayson Rodriguez, one of the top pitching prospects in the game. They were not up to the job, just one hit in the game. That was by Chavez Young. Samad Taylor walked twice.
Simeon Woods Richardson was not in control. He walked seven in less than three innings. He threw 31 strikes and 42 balls, ouch!
Vancouver scored a run in the seventh to tie their game. With Adrian Hernandez on the mound things looked good. But a double a wild pitch and an error on an attempted force at home let Eugene score the winning run. Paxton Schultz started and struck out nine in six innings. But he was charged with three runs on four hits.
The C's had just six hits, Luis De Los Santos stayed hot with two, including a double and two RBI.
Zac Cook hit a two run home run, had three hits total and drove in three runs. Harry Ray had two hits, one a double and scored twice.
Naswell Paulino went five innings, giving up three runs.
Third Star - Connor Overton
Second Star - Paxton Schultz
First Star - Zac Cook
