Buffalo were one hit and shut out. New Hampshire had two hits through six innings before getting a grand slam in the seventh. They still lost. Dunedin had no hits through five innings but came back to win with a walk off ninth. Vancouver had just four hits but won behind a good start from Adam Kloffenstein.
Buffalo 0 Syracuse 3
New Hampshire 5 Hartford 8
Tri-City 3 Vancouver 4
Fort Myers 3 Dunedin 4
This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
Thomas Hatch allowed three solo home runs in four batters in the fourth inning. He went five innings. Kyle Johnston and Fitz Stadler kept their zero ERA's since being promoted from AA.
Buffalo had just one hit, a Mallex Smith single.
New Hampshire's five runs came via the long ball. Jordan Groshans hit a solo shot in the second inning. Chris Bec hit a grand slam in the seventh. NH had just six hits, Groshans had two.
Reilly Hovis started and didn't do so well, four runs in three innings. The Sunday game has been called already due to the approaching hurricane.
In the third inning, facing Adam Kloffenstein, Tri-City had two singles and a home run. Those were the only hits, and the only runs, that Kloff allowed over six innings. He also struck out seven. Kloffenstein didn't have a great start to the season, or middle, but he has pitched a lot better in August, a 1.15 WHIP and 29 K's in 21.2 innings.
Luis De Los Santos drove in the first run with a single in the third. Spencer Horwitz hit a three run home run in the fifth. The C's had just four hits.
Nathanael Perez pitched well. He went five innings with just a solo home run on the board, he struck out seven.
After being shut out for five innings Dunedin scored two in the sixth with a walk and three singles. The Jays added an unearned run in the seventh setting up the walk off. Jose Rivas singled with one out. Harry Ray hit into a force out. Ray then stole second and went to third on the cathcers throwing error. Miguel Hiraldo then hit an infield single to win the game. Rivas and Zach Britton had two hits each.
Third Star - Adam Kloffenstein
Second Star - Jose Rivas
First Star - Spencer Horwitz
