Cy but no MVP

Ray won the Cy Young, but Vlad came in 2nd for MVP. More details below on how the Jays did in the various awards.
Not a shocker really. Most saw Ray as the best in the AL last season, while Vlad was the best hitter but some guy named Ohtani was an excellent hitter and an excellent pitcher.
Awards for 2021 for the Jays...
- All-Stars: Starters: Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Marcus Semien, Teoscar Hernandez with Bo Bichette as a backup.
- Silver Slugger: Guerrero, Semien, Hernandez
- Gold Glove: Semien
- Manager of the Year: 4th (3 1st, 2 2nd, 2 3rd, 23 not named on - the first place votes via an LA writer, a Minneapolis writer, and Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star) (Rays’ Kevin Cash wins back-to-back Manager of the Year honors, a first in the AL)
- Rookie of the Year: 8th Alek Manoah (2 3rd place votes via an ESPN writer for Chicago, and Rob Longley for the Toronto Sun) (Rays’ Randy Arozarena wins Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year after previous postseason success)
- Cy Young: Robbie Ray (29 1st, 1 2nd (Cole ahead via a Detroit writer for MLB.com)), 9th: Jose Berrios (1 3rd, 1 4th, 3 5th) (Blue Jays’ Robbie Ray wins AL Cy Young Award)
- MVP: 2nd: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (29 2nds, 1 3rd), 3rd: Marcus Semien (24 3rds, 4 4ths, 2 5ths), 12th Bo Bichette (1 8th, 1 9th, 2 10th), 16th Robbie Ray (1 7th), 19th Teoscar Hernandez (1 9th) (Angels’ Shohei Ohtani wins AL MVP unanimously). It was a KC writer who put Vlad 3rd and their own catcher Salvador Perez 2nd. A NY writer and a MASN writer put Semien 5th (behind Judge and Correa),when Semien was 4th it was Judge or Perez put ahead of him.
Not bad - one of the better hauls for the Jays. Also of note: pre-season the Jays had 6 top 100 prospects on the Baseball America top 100 list (2 traded, 2 no longer rookies, leaving 2 for next year in
Jordan Groshans, and
Orelvis Martinez)
