Vancouver were the only winners Wednesday. Buffalo's game in Rochester was postponed due to unplayable field conditions. Those two teams will play a doubleheader Friday.
Hartford 8 New Hampshire 5
The Rockies affiliate ran out to an 8-1 lead at one point before the Fisher Cats made the score a little more respectable. Elvis Luciano opened the game and gave up two runs (one earned) in his lone inning on three walks and an error by Luis De Los Santos at short. Luciano left the game due to an apparent injury while trying to warm up before the second inning. Geison Urbaez gave up four runs in 2-1/3 innings, two of them coming home with Trey Cumbie on the mound. Cumbie coughed up a runof his own over 2-2/3 innings. Adrian Hernandez allowed a run but rung up three batters over two innings. Former Chicago White Sox farmhamd Jake Elliott made his organizational debut with a scoreless two-hit inning, striking out one.
The Fisher Cats outhit the Yard Goats 13-8 but were just 3-for-16 with runners in scoring position, leaving a dozen on the pillows. Spencer Horwtiz had an RBI single in the first but New Hampshire did not score again until the eighth when Steward Berroa had an RBI single and Tanner Morris had an RBI fielder's choice. Sebastian Espino drove in a run with a double and De Los Santos had an RBI groundout in the ninth. De Los Santos had a hit but had a rough night with the glove by making three errors. Morris collected three hits while Rafael Lantigua and Will Robertson enjoyed two-hit efforts. Orelvis Martinez doubled but struck out twice in five at-bats. Chris Bec walked and stole a base.
Vancouver 3 Tri-City 0
The C's one-hit the Dust Devils to win their third game in five tries. Chad Dallas faced just one batter over the minimum, walking just one batter and striking out eight to win his professional debut. "Cheese" had four groundball outs and threw 45 strikes out of his 68 pitches. Jol Concepcion kept the no-hitter going until one out in the seventh when he allowed a single that deflected off the glove of Miguel Hiraldo at second. Concepcion rallied lo strikeout three over his two innings of work. Jimmy Burnette also had just one baserunner to deal with after issuing a walk but he struck out six over the final two frames for the save.
Trevor Schwecke drove in the game's first run with a single in the second inning and Zach Britton tacked on a two-run knock in the fifth. Riley Tirotta and Addison Barger had the other Vancouver hits with Barger getting a triple and stealing a base. Schwecke drew a walk and was hit by a pitch to get on base three times. Britton and Andres Sosa also took one for the team. Hiraldo, Leo Jimenez and Garrett Spain heard ball four once. P.K. Morris had the golden sombrero.
Tampa 4 Dunedin 3
All the scoring came in the first three innings with Dunedin enjoying a 3-0 lead before the Yankees fought back. Jonatan Bernal gave up all four runs in four innings on five hits and a walk but he did strike out seven. Soenni Martinez walked four but whiffed two in two innings. Conor Larkin and Julian Valdez put up a goose egg apiece.
Damiano Palmegiani socked a two-run homer in the first and Estiven Machado drove in a run with a second inning double. Machado had two doubles on the night. Palmegiani and Rainer Nunez also got a pair of hits. Dasan Brown and Gabriel Martinez made a dent in the hit column. Victor Mesia and Rikelbin De Castro were both 0-for-4 with Mesia being charged with two passed balls.
