Sosa So So Good

Buffalo and New Hampshire hit their share of homers but could not find the win column. Vancouver came back to win their game as did the DSL squad. Dunedin's late rally fizzled out and the FCL club was shut out.

Columbus 11 Buffalo 10 (10 Innings)

The Bisons led 4-0 and 10-5 but the Guardians affiliate pulled it out with five runs in the final two frames. Gabriel Moreno doubled home two runs and scored on a Nathan Lukes two-run home run in the first. Yoshi Tsutugo went deep and Zack Collins hit a two-run shot in the fourth. L.J. Talley also went yard to start the fifth. Every Buffalo hitter had at least one hit with Talley leading the way with three. Otto Lopez and Vinny Capra had two apiece.

Shaun Anderson struck out two over two perfect frames but Nick Allgeyer was lit up for five runs over 1-2/3 innings. Brandon Eisert pitched 1-1/3 scoreless innings and stranded two runners. Eric Yardley gave up a run in one inning before Kyle Johnston worked 1-2/3 shutout frames. Vinny Nittoli allowed two runs in one-third of an inning and Trent Thornton allowed two inherited runners to score and two of his own over one inning to blow the save. Matt Peacock took the loss in the 10th.


Somerset 10 New Hampshire 6

The Fisher Cats led 2-0 and 6-5 before the Yankees affiliate stormed back in the later innings for the win. Addison Barger and John Aiello hit solo shots in the first two frames. Will Robertson started a four-run fourth with an RBI single. Zac Cook contributed a sacrifice fly before Davis Schneider went deep to put the Cats ahead. Aiello had a two-hit night but was pinch-hit for by Trevor Schwecke in the fifth. Barger and Schneider also walked and Robertson was on base three times with a pair of walks. Cook had a single and stole a base. Zach Britton singled and Orelvis Martinez was 0-for-3 with a BB.

Adam Kloffenstein was cuffed around for six runs (five earned) over five frames on nine hits that included three homers. He struck out four and got six of his nine outs in play on the grass. Gabriel Ponce took the loss after giving up two runs in the sixth. Sean Mellen struck out three over 1-1/3 scoreless innings before Parker Caracci coughed up two runs before getting the final two outs.


Vancouver 4 Hillsboro 3

The C's came back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Diamondbacks affiliate. Miguel Hiraldo opened the scoring with an RBI double in the fourth inning, Gabby Martinez drove in another with an RBI single in the fifth before Andrés Sosa smacked a two-run homer in the sixth. Sosa finished a triple shy of the cycle and threw out two of three runners trying to purloin a base from behind the plate. Martinez, Alex De Jesus and Riley Tirotta had a pair of hits and Hiraldo walked ahead of Sosa's go-ahead blast. Damiano Palmegiani and P.K. Morris both singled.

Abdiel Mendoza allowed three runs on two hits and six walks to go along with five punchouts in 4-1/3 innings. Matt Svanson saw two Mendoza runners score on his watch but Tirotta lost the ball in the lights in right field that allowed the Hops to add on the final two runs in their three-run fifth. Svanson scatted three hits and struck out six over 2-2/3 innings for the win. Garrett Farmer struck out two and Connor Cooke struck out one to deliver perfect frames for the hold and save respectively.


Bradenton 5 Dunedin 1

This game was suspended due to rain but the Jays could not come back against the Pirates affiliate. Dylan Rock doubled home a Peyton Williams double in the ninth. They loaded up the bases in the ninth to bring the tying run to the plate but only came up with the one run. Williams had two hits and Devonte Brown had the other. Michael Turconi heard ball four three times while Alan Roden, Cade Doughty and Estiven Machado heard it once.

Irv Carter gave up a run on four hits, a walk and a hit by pitch over four frames. He struck out two and split his six outs in play evenly on the ground and in the air. Jiorgeny Casimiri gave up two runs, including a homer over 1-1/3 innings. Ian Churchill stranded one of two Casimiri runners and struck out one over two-thirds of an inning. Harry Rutkowski served up a two-run bomb over 1-2/3 innings. Trey Cumbie got the final out in the eighth.


FCL Phillies 7 FCL Blue Jays 0

Johan Simon surrendered four runs on five hits and two walks and struck out two over 2-1/3 innings to take the loss. Jean Lopez gave up the other three runs over 1-2/3 innings. Brahiam Jiménez and Darwin Cruz contributed a shutout inning apiece and Angel Santana allowed a hit and a walk and struck out four over three scoreless frames.

Manuel Beltre, Juan Gonzalez and Francisco Veracieto had the only hits with Beltre getting a double. Tucker Toman and Rikelbin De Castro got on base with four balls.


DSL Blue Jays 6 DSL Bal Black 3

The Jays erased a 3-1 deficit with one run in the sixth and a four in the seventh to rally past the O's. Luis Meza brought in the winning run with a pinch-hit fielder's choice. Victor Arias added an RBI double and Gregori Cano had an infield RBI single to cap off their two-hit days. Jean Joseph had a hit and a walk. Martin Gimenez and Omar Romero also had safeties.

Raudy Gomez gave up two runs on three walks and struck out one over 2-1/3 hitless innings. Robin De Jesus allowed both Gomez runners to score and also gave up a run over 1-2/3 innings. Gabriel Ochoa (0.1IP), Yordi Martinez (0.2IP) and Omar Muñoz (2.0IP) provided scoreless relief with Muñoz getting the win.
