New Hampshire win in extras thanks to Sebastian Espino. Dunedin win in a shortened game thanks to Devonte Brown. Vancouver won in regulation thanks to Damiano Palmegiaini. Buffalo came out on the losing end.

Columbus 9 Buffalo 6

New Hampshire 4 Somerset 3

Hillsboro 9 Vancouver 10

Dunedin 5 Bradenton 2 - 7 innings

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

Buffalo scored five runs in the first inning by batting around. With Casey Lawrence on the mound you would have thought the Bisons were in a good place. But Lawrence was not "on", he gave up three home runs by the third inning and the 5-0 lead was now a 5-5 tie. Following Lawrence, Jackson Rees, Kyle Johnston and Brandon Eisert all were scored upon and the Bisons couldn't recover.

Vinny Capra had two hits. Otto Lopez had one hit to extend his hit streak to 16 games. He is hitting .423 in August. He doesn't have much power but he can hit. Spencer Horwitz didn't have a hit and has struggled over the last month. He was hitting .300 a month ago and now is down to .254.

New Hampshire didn't have a hit until the sixth inning. Sebastian Espino homered to end the drought. Heading to the ninth the Fisher Cats were trailing 2-1 and they had just two hits. Cameron Eden and Davis Schneider singled and Eden scored on a ground out.

Luis Quinones had a very good start, five innings, eight strikeouts. He allowed two runs on three hits.

The game headed to extra innings. Espino came up trumps again in the tenth. He singled to drive in Luis De Los Santos and Phil Clarke. Jimmy Burnette pitched the tenth. He did have the tying runs on base but he struck out Yankees uber prospect Anthony Volpe to end the game.

Vancouver scored ten runs with six hits. Hillsboro had twice as many hits as the C's but came out on the losing end. Two big home runs helped Vancouver. Damiano Palmegiani hit a grand slam in the third inning and drove in five runs overall. PK Morris hit a three run shot in the sixth inning.

Chad Dallas was hit around. In 4.2 innings he allowed five runs. Eric Pardinho also gave up a couple of runs and his ERA remains over nine. New draftee Mason Fluharty also allowed a home run, a two run shot, while striking out three of his five outs.

Dunedin won a rain shortened game. Four of their five runs were driven in without a hit. Two scored on bases loaded walks, and two on ground outs. Devonte Brown singled in the fifth run. Brown was 2-2 with two walks. Estiven Machado also had two hits. Cade Doughty was 1-2 and he also walked twice. The Jays had five hits and eight walks.

Geison Urbaez threw five shutout innings. He struck out five hitters.
