Notes

With a sellout crowd of 6,413 plus 607 dogs for the annual Dog Day of Summer, the C's were able to hang on against the Rockies affiliate. Eight C's hitters had a base hit and Garrett Spain drew a walk. Gabby Martinez and Dasan Brown reached base twice with a hit and a hit by pitch. Braden Scott and Larkin contributed scoreless frames in relief. Matt Svanson gave up one run and almost two but a close play at the plate went Vancouver's way as Michael Turconi recovered from bobbling the ball after ranging to his left at second base and made a one-hop throw to get the would-be tying run at home, After a wild pitch moved the potential tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position, Svanson got a game-ending strikeout for the save. Vancouver committed three errors in this one but was able to turn two double plays, including an unassisted one by Devonte Brown at first base. The former North Carolina State product made his first professional start at first base, a position he didn't even play with the Wolfpack.

In the FCL, Martin Gimenez belted a grand slam and added a base hit. Luis Garcia also had two knocks. Jackson Rees gave up a run and struck out two in one inning. Rehabbing Hunter Gregory served up a solo shot and whiffed two over two frames.

Enmanuel Bonilla doubled, singled and walked to boost his batting average to .281 and Daniel Perez turned in the same batting line. They were among six DSL Jays to record two hits. Raudy Gomez gave up five runs (three earned) over 3-1/3 innings. Oscar Munoz took the loss after allowing three Gomez runners to score and surrendering four runs (three earned) of his own over 2-1/3 innings. Gabriel Castro was the only reliever to emerge unscathed with 2-1/3 shutout frames.
