Vancouver Canadians

The Vancouver Canadians keep on winning in the Northwest League-leading one to think there may be one true contender and five pretenders as we head into August. The Canadians are now 57-34 with 40 games left in the regular season.

After witnessing Tuesday’s 12-inning come-from-behind victory live at Rogers Field, Vancouver set to work early this time and was up 2-0 in the second thanks to a Josh Kasevich home run while Garrett Spain was on base.

Gabby Martinez’s first of two home runs came with Michael Turconi on base in the third and then Cade Doughty in the fifth to make it 6-0. Martinez homered on consecutive pitches in two trips to the plate making it easy to choose him as our first star. It was a monster night for him to say the least and it netted him his second two-home run day as a professional.

Adam Macko was on the hill again for Vancouver and while we have witnessed some rough starts from him recently, he tossed a great game with five scoreless innings, allowing only two singles and three walks along with a season-high seven strikeouts

Today’s game sees Kevin Miranda on the mound for the Canadians opposite Everett’s Brandon Schaeffer. The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

Buffalo Bisons

The Buffalo Bisons mashed the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for 14 runs in this game with a third inning that saw them push a season-high 10 across home plate. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre actually scored the first run in the top of the 1st on a first-pitch home run by Estevan Florial.

Buffalo’s 10 runs in the third were capped off by Orelvis Martinez hitting the fourth double of the frame, while Ernie Clement, Davis Schneider, and Luis De Los Santos all scored on the play, allowing the Bisons to take a dominant 10-1 lead.

Even after Aaron McGarity replaced the Raider’s Tanner Tully, they couldn’t stop the bleeding. A bases-loaded walk extended Buffalo’s command to 7-1 as Cameron Eden scored that then set up the Martinez double.

This series continues today The Bisons face the RailRiders at 7:05 pm local time.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats lost 9-8 to the Hartford Yard Goats in a game where they used the early innings to score multiple runs only to lose again in extra innings. New Hampshire is now 1-9 in extra-inning games this season.

Hartford scored seven runs between the fifth and seventh innings to take a 7-6 lead thanks to a Kyle Datres three-run homer in the fifth and Jordan Beck doubling in the go-ahead run in the seventh.

The Fisher Cats Alan Roden continues to impress with hits in five of six Double-A games to go with five RBIs.

Today another Vancouver Canadians fan favourite, Chad Dallas (3-1, 4.63 ERA) will make the start for New Hampshire against LHP Joe Rock (1-6, 4.53 ERA) for Hartford./p>

Dunedin Blue Jays

The Dunedin Blue Jays were 8-2 losers to the Tampa Tarpons Wednesday and now sit at 42-50 on the year.

After Tuesday night’s 5-1 win at George Steinbrenner Field, Tampa scored two in the first and third innings and four in the seventh en route to the victory.

The Tarpons Justin Lange threw six strong innings to get his first victory of the season. At the plate, 1B Omar Martinez and LF Jake Palmer propelled the offence, combining for four RBIs and picking up five of Tampa’s nine hits.

Dunedin could only manage single runs in the second and seventh.

In today’s game, the Blue Jays starter is TBD while RHP Baron Stuart will start on the mound for Tampa. The first pitch is at 6:30 p.m. local time.
