Buffalo Bisons

The Buffalo Bisons came up short in an 11-8 loss to the Norfolk Tides Wednesday.

Buffalo jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Orelvis Martinez singled on a fly ball to center fielder Colton Cowser. Nathan Lukes and Rafael Lantigua scored on the play.

The Tides would add one in the third and four in the fourth to make it 6-2 and then added a single run in the sixth four in the seventh when Connor Norby hit a grand slam to left field.

The series continues tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. with Mitch White on the hill for Buffalo.

Vancouver Canadians

The Vancouver Canadians capped off a dream season by winning the NorthWest League Championship last Saturday.

The 2023 Northwest League All-Star Team was named this week with 2B: Michael Turconi, and RP: Matt Svanson also getting the nod. Turconi was promoted to Double-A in August after hitting for the cycle the week before.

His High A season saw him hit .299/.418/.486 with a .904 OPS, 18 doubles, four triples, seven homers, 54 runs scored, 41 RBI and 52 walks to 64 strikeouts in 74 games played. His 15-game hitting streak from July 14 through August 2 saw him hit .300 to go with an on-base streak of a team-high 34 straight games from June 22 until August 8.

Svanson was injured to start the year, returned to Vancouver in early May and went 21.1 consecutive scoreless innings from May 26 through his final Canadians outing on July 25. He was then promoted to Double-A.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats wrapped their season on September 17th with a loss and a 62-72 final record.

Ricky Tiedemann has made the move to Triple-A Buffalo while Cam Eden has been called up to the Toronto Blue Jays with the Blue Jays in the Bronx to face the Yankees.
