Vancouver Canadians

April baseball can be a cold and challenging affair at times but the Canadians rode the strong pitching of lefty Kendry Rojas five shutout innings for the win. Grayson Thurman had a scoreless sixth and seventh while Chay Yeager’s shutout eighth was the perfect setup for Anders Tolhurst to get the save in the ninth.

In the bottom of the second inning, A Dylan Rock single became a double when Hops outfielder Brett Johnson made an error. That was followed up by an Estiven Machado single that scored Rock.

The Canadians got the insurance run of the game in the sixth inning when Jeff Wehler singled and Rock’s double to right scored him.

The Canadians are back at it tonight at 7:05 p.m. local time for game three of this series. On the hill for the Canadians is Geison Urbaez against the Hops Avery Short.

Buffalo Bisons

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen is with the Herd on a Major League Injury Rehab assignment this week and he wasted no time making his presence known, blasting a fourth-inning grand slam with the Bisons down 5-3.

Buffalo had nine runs that inning including the grand slam and ended up edging the Rochester Red Wings 12-11 in this one.

Former Canadian Damiano Palmegiani replaced Jansen in the sixth inning with Jansen going 2-3 with a single and strikeout in the second. According to the Bisons website, Jansen was the Bisons MVP in 2018 when he had a slash line of 275/.390/.473 with 12 home runs and 58 RBIs in 88 games.

The Bisons and Red Wings are at it again today at 1:05 pm local time with Ricky Tiedemann, who is ranked first on Major League Baseball's 2024 Top 30 Blue Jays prospects list, on the mound. He is 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA. The Red Wings have not announced a starter.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats game against the Somerset Patriots was postponed due to inclement weather on Wednesday.

The Fisher Cats are 3-1 on the year while Patriots are 2-2.

Michael Dominguez will start for the Fisher Cats. He has a 2.25 ERA in one start with a 0-0 record. Game time is 6:35 pm tonight.

Dunedin Blue Jays

Dunedin has rolled out four straight wins to start the season, this time with a Yhoangel Aponte opposite-field, solo home run to open the second inning.

The Tampa Tarpons tied it in the fourth but Dunedin got five runs in the fifth on a Nic Deschamps triple and an RBI from Cade Doughty. Riley Tirotta, who is in Dunedin from the Fisher Cats on a rehab assignment, scored with Doughty on a wild pitch.

The Blue Jays got three more in the seventh using two errors by the Tarpons as well as two hits. Dunedin's bullpen has been the star through the first four games of the season as well, with four scoreless innings in this game along with two from Keiner Leon to close the contest. Their season ERA as a unit is now 0.33 in 27.2 innings. The Blue Jays are also tied with the Palm Beach Cardinals for the Florida State League's best record at 4-1.

The series with the Tarpons continues tonight at 6:30PM EDT in Tampa.
