Vancouver Canadians

When last we left you the Canadians were battling their way through their opening home stand against the Hillsboro Hops.

This week finds Brent Lavallee’s squad in Eugene Oregon to face the Emeralds squad that is now 9-1 after the win.

Vancouver was shut out 5-0 on the strength of No-Hitter thrown by three Emeralds pitchers who each went three innings in the game. Nick Sinacola got the win while Seth Corry got the save.

The Canadians are back at it tonight In Eugene 7:05 p.m. local time for game three of this series.

Buffalo Bisons

Orelvis Martinez continues to demonstrate why he is one of the top players for the Bisons with a grand slam that would have made Denny’s breakfast eater proud. Martinez has hit in 11 straight games now as well and one has to wonder when the Toronto Blue Jays will come knocking.

Damiano Palmegiani hit a home run in this game and finished the day at 3-for-4 with a double, 2 HRs & 3 RBIs to boost his OPS to .858 on the year. Nathan Lukes got the long ball fest going with a two-run blast as just the second batter in the game. Addison Barger was 2-5 with one run and 3 RBI while Spencer Horowitz had four runs to go with one hit and two walks.

Buffalo had four home runs in the contest as did the Columbus Clippers.

The Bisons and Clippers are at it again today at 6:15 pm local time. Both teams have not announced a starter.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats were victims of a 5-2 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday afternoon.

The Fisher Cats fall to 7-4 on the year while Sea Dogs are 5-4. New Hampshire wasted 16 strikeouts by its pitching staff including eight by Trenton Wallace who allowed two runs in four innings.

They also squandered strong catching by Phil Clarke who threw out three attempted base stealers. Garrett Spain also notched his first assist of the season, connecting with Clarke on a play at the plate. Consecutive doubles by Rainer Nunez and Miguel Hiraldo accounted for one of the two Fisher Cats runs.

The Fisher Cats and Sea Dogs continue their six-game set this afternoon at 12:05 p.m. RHP Michael Dominguez (0-0, 9.00 ERA) takes the mound against Portland LHP Zach Penrod (1-0, 0.00 ERA)

Dunedin Blue Jays

Dunedin had hit double digits in runs the previous two contests but fell to The Clearwater Threshers 10-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Threshers exploded for seven runs in the fifth inning after adding a single run in the third and then single runs in the 6th and 8th.

Clearwaters Aidan Miller doubled scoring Dakota Kotowski and Trent Farquhar. Jordan Viars then homered to score Aidan Miller for a two-run shot to highlight four of the inning’s seven runs for

Miller was a one-man wrecking crew with four runs on four hits and two RBIs for the Threshers. Dunedin’s Daniel Perez leadoff triple in the eight was the lone highlight as he then scored on a wild pitch to make it 10-1.

The series with the Threshers continues tonight at 6:30 PM EDT in Dunedin. The Blue Jays are 8-3 on the season.
