Vancouver over Tri-City 5-0, have two straight wins to start the series.

Vancouver Canadians

The Tr-City Dust Devils and the Vancouver Canadians started their six-game set in Pasco, Washington On Tuesday with the Canadians taking the first game 10-4.

In Wednesday’s game, the Canadians won 5-0 thanks to Ryan Jennings and Rafael Ohashi providing Vancouver with strong pitching through seven innings. The duo allowed no runs. Jennings allowed an infield hit, one walk and four strikeouts while Ohashi had three k’s, one hit and no walks. Ohashi got the win to move to 2-0.

On offence Vancouver had a four-run fourth inning which saw them send nine batters to the plate. Brennan Orf and Dylan Rock had base hits then Jaden Rudd walked to load the bases.

When Dust Devils starter Walbert Urena unleashed a wild throw, it turned Estiven Machado’s ground ball back to the pitcher into an error that allowed a run to come home. Urena did strike out the next batter but Jeff Wehler’s bases-clearing double put the Canadians in front 5-0.

The Canadians and Dust Devils continue their series today at 6:30pm at Gesa Stadium with Chris McElvain on the hill for Vancouver while Tri-City sends out Chris Clark.

Buffalo Bisons

The Indianapolis Indians scored three in the bottom of the first and five in the bottom of the second to lead 8-2 after just two innings in Wednesday’s game against the Buffalo Bisons.

Buffalo had answered with two in the top of the second and third innings but The Indians added a single run in the 4th and four more in the fifth to give themselves a 13-4 lead after five.

Damiano Palmegiani and Orelvis Martinez hit back-to-back homers in this game but the Bisons had dug themselves a huge hole and couldn’t recover.

Buffalo and Indianapolis will play each other at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday. Chad Dallas is slated to pitch for Buffalo against Indianapolis’ Cam Alldred.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats exploded for five runs in the fifth inning against the Somerset Patriots to win 7-0 on Wednesday. New Hampshire sent 10 players to the plate and finished with five runs on six hits in the fifth inning, embarrassing Somerset before their home crowd.

Leading 1-0 heading into the fifth, four of five New Hampshire players hit singles with Alan Roden starting the parade and catcher Zach Britton brought him home later in the inning. Roden’s hit had driven in Riley Tirotta who had walked earlier that frame. Josh Kasevich’s hit had scored Miguel Hiraldo who had reached based on his own single and Gabby Martinez’s hit scored Kasevich.

The Fisher Cats and Patriots play today at 6:35 p.m. Lefty Adam Macko (0-1, 3.15 ERA) is on the mound to face Somerset RHP Blane Abeyta (1-3, 6.33 ERA).

Dunedin Blue Jays

The Dunedin Blue Jays lost a close one to the Tampa Tarpons on Wednesday, falling 5-4.

Tampa jumped out to a 3-0 in the third with an Emmanuel Tejeda blast that rocked Blue Jays starter Juaron Watts-Brown. Watts-Brown finished the game with seven strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work.

Dunedin got one back in the fourth inning but Tampa made it 4-1 in the fifth thanks to Tejeda keying the offence again with a single. Coby Morales doubled to move Tejeda to third. Tejeda came home from third on a wild pitch after Roderick Arias walked.

Dunedin made it 4-2 in the fifth but reliever Cade Austin held the Blue Jays off the score until the 8th inning when Dunedin tied the game at 4-4.

Tejada struck again though in the ninth as his bloop single to right scored The Tarpons Tomas Frick who had doubled and then advanced to third on a ground out.

Game Three of this series continues tonight at 6:30.
