Among those still on the market but not listed are Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte and Barry Zito, who would combine to dominate the voting, so that's just too easy; and Jason Johnson, Chan Ho Park and Jamey Wright, who would, uh, NOT combine to dominate the voting and did not make the Top 10 Options list.

Ted Lilly is going to demolish the NL. Even though Wrigley is a homerun park.....so is the RC, and now he's in the NL. He's going to be around the 10th best pitcher in the league.

Meche will pitch fine, but being in the AL, won't be credited with as many wins because of the deeper teams he'll face.

Jeff Suppan won a gutsy game 7 at Shea that totally impressed me. He would be a great number 3 starter, if JP can't sign Meche. Either one of those two would be enough to put us over the top. With the kind of run support the Blue Jays can provide, we could have multiple 20 game winners next season. When one considers that the #2 pitcher  on the '93 Championship team in wins was Juan Guzman with 14, perhaps we're closer than we think.

Fascinating that just 60-some votes into this poll, every one of the 10 candidates has at least one vote, and seven of the 10 have multiple votes. I think  of the guys listed, the one likeliest to have a huge year is Weaver, but he's also likely to crap out. I voted for Marquis, who I've always thought of as being just around the corner from a Cy Young season. Maybe he'll never turn it; maybe in 2007, with ... let's say, the Cardinals again.
